Former residence of Lu Xun in Baiyun Building
Baiyun Building is located in the west section of Baiyun Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou city. From March 29 to September 27, 1927, Mr. Lu Xun once lived here. At that time, he rented the second floor of No. 26 (now No. 7) on the west side of Baiyun Building. It is a good place for writing. This is a three story building of reinforced concrete structure, facing Southeast, with a trapezoidal plane. There used to be a plaque with the word "Baiyun Lou" on the southwest corner, but it is no longer there. There are several remnants of the word "Baiyun Lou" on the walls of southwest and North. The building was built in 1924. It has a large area and many rooms. The facade presents western style. On the first door of the west wall, there is the word "post office", which proves that it was used by the postal department and used as the dormitory of the postal department.
Historical story
On January 29th, 1927, Mr. Lu Xun went south to Guangzhou and became the dean of academic affairs and director of Literature Department of Sun Yat sen University. He was warmly welcomed by the majority of young students. In the early days, Lu Xun lived in the bell tower of Sun Yat sen University (today's Lu Xun Memorial on Wenming Road). On March 29, Lu Xun moved to Baiyun Building. At that time, Mr. Lu Xun rented one living room and three rooms on the second floor. He and Xu shoushang lived in one room each, and Xu Guangping shared one with the female workers. The room where Mr. Lu Xun lived still retains its original appearance. The reception hall is at the entrance with simple furnishings and bamboo chairs. Mr. Lu Xun's room, the window is facing the road.
On April 15, 1927, the Kuomintang launched the "April 15" coup in Guangzhou. At that time, a large number of revolutionary youth were arrested or even slaughtered, and a group of students at Sun Yat sen University were arrested. When Mr. Lu Xun learned of the situation, he immediately tried to rescue and donate money to the arrested students, but the rescue failed. So Lu Xun angrily resigned from all his posts in Sun Yat sen University and devoted himself to writing in Baiyun tower.
On September 27 that year, Lu Xun and Xu Guangping were forced to leave Guangzhou for Shanghai, but Baiyun tower was not forgotten because of the great man's hasty departure.

Lu Xun's works
In the short half year of his seclusion in Baiyun tower, he compiled morning and evening flowers and weeds, and wrote more than 30 militant essays and essays, such as abominable crime, little miscellaneous feelings and a brief talk on Hong Kong. In December 1979, Baiyun Building was announced as a provincial cultural relic protection unit.

Not open to the outside world
