Changjiang University, approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China in April 2003, is a comprehensive university with the largest scale and a complete range of disciplines among the universities in Hubei Province. The school has a long history. The predecessor of the former Jianghan Petroleum Institute is Beijing Petroleum Industry College founded in 1950. In 1978, it began to hold general undergraduate education, which is subordinate to China National Petroleum Corporation.
