Founded in May 2000, the college is an independent college jointly established by Jilin Agricultural University, a provincial key university, and Jilin Donghua education group. The campus is located on the Bank of Shuangyang lake, the South Garden of Changchun.

The college implements the school running tenet of "educating people meticulously and serving the society" and abides by the school running philosophy of "building the school with quality, prospering the school with talents, strengthening the school with characteristics and managing the school scientifically". The goal of training high-quality applied talents should be fixed.

Adhere to the market demand-oriented, and constantly strengthen the discipline construction. At present, there are 27 undergraduate majors, 34 professional directions and 12 Higher Vocational Majors. The pattern of coordinated development of agriculture, science, engineering, medicine, management and literature has been formed. At present, there are more than 10000 students.

It has good conditions for running a school: it now covers an area of 83 hectares, with various building areas of more than 280000 square meters and teaching equipment worth more than 40 million yuan. There are more than 80 laboratories, a gymnasium for more than 6000 people, a library and reading room with advanced facilities, an educational technology center, a foreign language listening radio station, a campus TV station and a large-scale electronic reading room for 320 microcomputers, and a campus information resource transmission and sharing network system. We have established a high-quality full-time and part-time teaching staff. There are more than 500 full-time and part-time teachers, and the proportion of teachers with senior titles accounts for more than 50%. The college is building large-scale teaching and training bases "Donghua Manor" and "Yulong hot spring". In addition, more than 70 off campus training and practice bases have been established in Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shandong, Heilongjiang, Changchun, Jilin and other provinces and cities, and a "China? Changchun CEO club" has been set up with 50 enterprise managers to build a bridge of school enterprise cooperation and combination of production, learning and research.

Optimize the ability based teaching system: build a platform and module of theoretical teaching system and experiment, practical teaching system of combining training with practice, production, study and research. We have adopted the assessment method of combining the usual test, application ability test and final examination, which focuses on strengthening the management of students' learning process; we have continuously deepened the reform of teaching content, method and mode; we have established a perfect education and management system of student work, and an education quality monitoring system of combining the school headquarters, Donghua education group and the college.

Organizing students to participate in vocational skill appraisal: the college has set up "vocational skill appraisal institute" and "national vocational skill appraisal base" by the provincial labor and social security department, and has been determined as "designated unit of Jilin tourism industry post training" by Jilin Tourism Bureau. At present, more than 8000 students have passed more than 20 professional qualification examinations such as e-commerce engineer, computer, certified public accountant, project manager, logistics engineer, Microsoft certification, tour guide, etc. In 2004, Xie Di, a computer major, participated in the "first national e-commerce competition" on behalf of Jilin Province and won the silver medal. He is the only winner in Jilin Province. He was awarded the title of "science and technology pacesetter" by Jilin provincial government. Vocational qualification certification broadens employment channels for students.

We have established a perfect employment guidance and recommendation system for students: we have established the "Jilin university student talent market" to keep in touch with all employers inside and outside the province, actively organize employers to come to the college for recruitment, and guide graduates to apply for jobs in all kinds of talent markets. With the employment of students, vigorously carry out entrepreneurship education activities, opened up a college students' entrepreneurship Park. In recent three years, the average employment rate of college graduates has reached more than 95%.

The college has achieved fruitful results. At the provincial education work conference, the college, as the only representative of the province's independent colleges, introduced the school running experience twice. In 2003, the Department of Education officially designated the college as the pilot unit of application-oriented undergraduate teaching reform, and the research subject won the second prize of provincial excellent teaching achievement. In January 2005, as a science and technology service unit for revitalizing Jilin old industrial base, the college was commended by the Provincial Department of education. In the special teaching inspection and evaluation of national independent colleges conducted by the Ministry of education, we got the best evaluation of "better" grade. In June 2005, as the only representative of the independent college, the college successively introduced the employment work and entrepreneurship education experience in the province. Since 2006, four courses such as marketing have been rated as provincial excellent courses, and financial management has been rated as provincial characteristic specialty construction point.
