The school is located at the southern foot of Tianzhu Mountain in the eastern suburb of Shenyang, adjacent to the world cultural heritage qingfuling in the East and Shenyang City in the west, covering an area of more than 10000 mu. The school running history of Shenyang Agricultural University can be traced back to the beginning of agricultural education in China -- provincial Fengtian agricultural school established by the Qing government in 1906. After that, it went through several historical periods, including Fengtian Agricultural University, Agricultural College of Northeast University and Shenyang Agricultural College. In 1952, the National Colleges and universities were adjusted and merged with Agricultural College of Fudan University to form a new Shenyang Agricultural College. In October 1979, it was approved by the State Council as a national key university. In 1981, it was approved as one of the first batch of units with the right to confer doctor's and master's degrees. In October 1985, it was renamed Shenyang Agricultural University. Comrade Deng Xiaoping personally inscribed the name of the University. In 2000, the University was transferred from the Ministry of agriculture to a national key university which is mainly managed by Liaoning Province and jointly built by Liaoning Province and the central government.

Under the guidance of the party's education policy, several generations of Shen Nong people have made great efforts to develop and innovate, and the school's various undertakings have been growing. Today, Shenyang Agricultural University has become a teaching and research-oriented university with the characteristics of agriculture and life sciences and the coordinated development of agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management and law.

The school has formed a relatively complete agricultural education and scientific research system. At present, there are 6 post doctoral research mobile stations, 45 doctoral degree awarding majors, 116 master degree awarding majors and 57 undergraduate majors; the university has 3 national key disciplines, 3 key disciplines of the Ministry of agriculture, 6 first-class characteristic disciplines of colleges and universities in Liaoning Province and 22 key disciplines in Liaoning Province. The university has 15 colleges, 4 teaching departments (centers and institutes), 72 scientific research institutions at or above the provincial level (including Shenyang City), including the National Engineering Laboratory, the New Rural Development Research Institute approved by the Ministry of science and technology and the Ministry of education, and 19 basic laboratories and experimental teaching centers.

Since its establishment, a large number of well-known scholars at home and abroad have come to teach. Since 1990, 252 people have received special government subsidies from the State Council. The school has 1564 teaching staff, including 921 full-time teachers, including 1 academician, 2 special academicians, 170 professors, 327 associate professors, 109 doctoral supervisors and 385 master supervisors. A high-level teaching staff with doctoral and master's tutors as the backbone and young and middle-aged teachers with doctoral degrees as the main body has been formed. The university has the foundation and advantages of developing emerging disciplines, marginal disciplines and conducting multidisciplinary joint scientific and technological research.

The school has always put the improvement of the quality of personnel training in the first place, attaches importance to teaching research and reform, and focuses on the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality and innovative spirit. Since its establishment, the university has trained 110000 undergraduate and junior college students and doctoral and master's students for the socialist construction of the motherland. Our graduates have a solid foundation, love and dedication, and work hard in their respective posts. They have made important contributions to the national economic development and social progress, and have been widely praised by the society. At present, the university has 21079 students, including 12807 full-time undergraduates, 687 full-time doctoral students, 2457 full-time Master students and 1447 part-time professional degree graduates. Since 2000, the university has undertaken more than 5000 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, 198 achievements have been awarded by the state, provincial (Ministry) and municipal governments, and 70% of scientific research achievements have been widely applied in production, creating huge economic benefits. The university has established a base point of science and education in 24 counties (districts) of 10 cities in Liaoning Province, and selected 46 scientific and technological personnel to serve as deputy county (city), township (town) heads or scientific and technological consultants, which has effectively promoted the in-depth development of the work of "invigorating agriculture through science and education".

The university is actively building an international cooperation platform, constantly strengthening exchanges and cooperation with internationally renowned universities and scientific research institutes. At present, it has established contacts with more than 40 countries and regions, and has become a friendly school with 34 universities in 15 countries.

Since entering the "12th Five Year Plan", all teachers and students of the school have always maintained a state of energetic spirit, seizing opportunities, determined to reform, making every effort to overcome difficulties, and all undertakings have developed rapidly. The university has been successfully selected into the basic ability construction project of universities in the central and western regions of China, which has injected new impetus into the future development. The new teaching and scientific research area, including 17 single buildings with a building area of 200000 square meters, and the new teaching and scientific research base on campus with advanced facilities covering an area of 500 mu, have been built and put into use, greatly improving the conditions for running schools; Located in Haicheng, Liaozhong, Zhangwu and other places, the construction of 4300 Mu long-term off campus teaching and research base has completed more than half of the task.
