Hubei College of traditional Chinese medicine was founded in 1958. Its predecessor is Hubei traditional Chinese medicine advanced education school, which was established in 1954. It is the only higher undergraduate college of traditional Chinese medicine in Hubei Province and an excellent school of undergraduate teaching level assessment by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. In 2003, the former Hubei College of traditional Chinese medicine merged with the former Hubei College of drug control to establish a new Hubei College of traditional Chinese medicine. Hubei College for drug control was founded in December 1958. Its predecessor is Hubei Provincial nursing vocational school, which was founded in 1939. It is the only college with pharmacy and medical examination as the main subjects in China. It has certain characteristics and advantages in the field of pharmacy and medical examination. In the practice of higher education of traditional Chinese medicine for half a century, Hubei University of traditional Chinese medicine has established a solid foundation for running a school, formed distinctive characteristics of running a school, accumulated rich experience in running a school, and formed a pattern of running a school with "simultaneous development of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, integration of Arts, science, engineering and management".
The level, scale and structure of running a school
The school has a complete range of education levels, including undergraduate, master and doctoral education; it has a relatively rich type of education, including full-time education in domestic colleges and universities, education for overseas students, adult continuing education, vocational and technical education, etc. The university takes undergraduate and graduate education as the main body, and overseas students' education, adult continuing education and vocational and technical education as the auxiliary, forming a "one main and three auxiliary" school running pattern.
1. School scale: there are 10689 full-time college students, including 1120 graduate students, 8687 undergraduate students and 882 junior college students.
2. Major structure: the university has 24 undergraduate majors and major directions, covering 5 disciplines of medicine, science, engineering, management and humanities.
3. Construction of disciplines and degree programs: the university has the right to confer doctoral degrees in the first level disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine, covering 12 second level disciplines; it has the right to confer master's degrees in four first level disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, pharmacy, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and 22 second level disciplines.
The university has one national bureau level key discipline of nephrology in internal medicine of traditional Chinese medicine, one provincial level key discipline of traditional Chinese medicine, and 14 provincial level key secondary disciplines. There are two provincial superior disciplines of TCM basic theory, acupuncture and massage, and two provincial characteristic disciplines of TCM clinical basis and TCM.
Construction of teaching staff
The school has 675 full-time teachers and 150 part-time teachers, with a student teacher ratio of 15.8:1. Among the full-time teachers, 482 have graduate degrees, accounting for 71.4% of the total number of teachers; among them, 137 have doctoral degrees, accounting for 20.3% of the total number of teachers. There are 420 full-time teachers with senior professional and technical positions, including 110 full-time professors.
Among the current teachers, there are famous doctors and teachers at the beginning of our school, such as famous TCM scientist, national excellent teacher, 95 year old professor Li Peisheng; famous TCM scientist, national "ten big country medical model" Professor Li Jinyong; famous TCM scientist, national famous old TCM Professor Tian Yumei. There are the first undergraduate graduates of traditional Chinese medicine in our university, professors Zhang Liutong, sun Guojie, Mei Guoqiang, Tu Jinwen and Chen Ruquan who are now famous experts and scholars in the field of traditional Chinese medicine; there are the first master degree winner of traditional Chinese medicine in our country, Professor Qiu Xingfan who is now a member of the discipline evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and an excellent teacher in the whole country; there are the current members of the discipline evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Professor Qiu Xingfan Professor Zhou Anfang, the first graduate student and basic theory expert of traditional Chinese medicine in China; Professor Zhan Yahua and Liu Yanwen, the well-known experts of traditional Chinese medicine in China; Professor Fang Nianbo, an international well-known natural medicine expert who was introduced from the United States and published 68 articles in SCI source journals; and a large number of young and middle-aged experts and scholars with high education level and reasonable knowledge structure, who are influential in the field of traditional Chinese medicine in China.
In addition, our university has invited four academicians, Wang Yongyan, Shi Xuemin, Chen Keji and Xiao Peigen, from the Chinese Academy of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Tianjin University of traditional Chinese medicine, to serve as the off campus members of the academic committee of our university, and academician Zhang Boli, president of Tianjin University of traditional Chinese medicine, to serve as the chairman of the academic committee of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education jointly built by the Ministry of education of our university . At present, 34 people enjoy the special allowance of the State Council and Hubei provincial government, 20 provincial "young and middle-aged outstanding contribution experts", 6 people have won the national "May 1" labor medal, national labor model, national excellent teacher and other honorary titles, and 9 people have won the provincial labor model, provincial excellent teacher and excellent educator titles.
Education and teaching reform
The University adheres to the discipline construction idea of "simultaneous development of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, integration of Arts, science, engineering and management", reasonably adjusts the professional structure and layout, and adds new medical related majors urgently needed by the society. To give full play to the traditional advantages of traditional Chinese medicine discipline and create professional brands and characteristics, Chinese medicine, acupuncture and massage, traditional Chinese medicine, clinical medicine of Chinese and Western medicine, medical laboratory and pharmaceutical preparation were approved as provincial brand specialties. Traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and massage were selected into the characteristic specialty construction point of the Ministry of education.
Strengthen the construction of professional courses and teaching team, and strive to improve the teaching level. At present, there are 6 provincial quality courses, 10 provincial quality courses and 2 provincial teaching teams.
Improving the quality of personnel training is the core of strengthening medical education, and the reform of personnel training mode is the key to improving the quality of medical education. The University adheres to the reform and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine major and constantly optimizes the talent training program. In the long-term practice of running a school, it has formed a talent training mode of "combination of college education and teacher education, class system and tutorial system complement each other". In accordance with the talent training requirements of "high quality, good foundation, familiar with classics and strong clinical skills", we should strengthen the guidance of famous doctors and teachers, highlight classic teaching and follow clinical practice. In 2007, the education reform project "Innovative Experimental Zone of traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance talents training mode" was selected as the construction project of Innovative Experimental Zone of talent training mode of Ministry of education, which is one of the first six construction projects of traditional Chinese medicine.
In the past five years, there are 176 teaching research projects in our university. Among them, there are 2 projects of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, 25 provincial teaching and research projects, and 7 teaching achievement awards above the provincial (ministerial) level. The students won 10 scientific and technological innovation awards above the provincial level, 405 excellent graduation theses of provincial college students, and obtained excellent results in the "Challenge Cup" extracurricular academic and technological works competition of Hubei college students. The employment rate of graduates at all levels is higher than the average level of provincial universities.
