Ningxia University

Ningxia University is located in Yinchuan City, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is the only comprehensive University jointly built by the province and ministry and the University established by "211 Project". The University was founded in 1958. In December 1997, the former Ningxia University merged with Ningxia Institute of technology and Yinchuan Teachers College (including Ningxia Institute of Education); in February 2002, Ningxia University merged with Ningxia Agricultural College to form a new Ningxia University.

In the course of 50 years, the school has carried forward the spirit of "not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of the cold, deep-rooted, solid and prosperous" and the tradition of "hard work and hard work" of a generation of daining adults. It has made innovations, made positive progress, and constantly developed various undertakings.

During the Tenth Five Year Plan period, the University firmly grasped the favorable opportunities of merging schools, key construction of "one province and one university", counterpart support, western development, and joint construction of provinces and ministries, conscientiously implemented the decision of "key construction of Ningxia University" and "striving to make Ningxia University A high-level university" made by the Party committee and government of the autonomous region, and the University developed continuously, rapidly, and coordinately. It has achieved "zero" breakthrough in many aspects, such as doctoral degree authorization point, cultivation base of State Key Laboratory, Key Laboratory of Ministry of education, engineering research center of Ministry of education, key research base of Humanities and social sciences of Ministry of education, Key Laboratory jointly built by province and ministry, second prize of national science and technology progress, first prize of national teaching achievement, national famous teacher award, national excellent course and so on. The level, level and quality of running a school have been continuously improved, the conditions and environment of running a school have been greatly improved, the strength of running a school has been significantly enhanced, and the social influence has been expanding day by day. In the 2007 undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education, it has obtained "excellent" and so on, which has better realized the idea of "making up for the historical debts, grasping the current construction, and laying the foundation for the future", and laid a solid foundation for the further development of the University A solid foundation.

The school has three campuses, covering an area of 2307 mu, a building area of 580000 square meters, and a teaching experimental farm of 1695 mu. There are 2717 teaching staff and 1367 full-time teaching and research personnel in the University, of which 50% are with senior professional titles and 66% are with master's degree or above. Among the teachers, 17 were selected into the "national talents project", 26 were selected into the "313 Talents Project", one was awarded the title of "national young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions", one was awarded the "national famous teacher award", and 27 were entitled to "special government allowance". The university enrolls students from 27 provinces, cities and autonomous regions. There are more than 15000 full-time ordinary and junior college students, 2045 graduate students, 1440 minority preparatory students, and more than 14000 adult higher education students.

There are 16 colleges, 1 public teaching department, International Education College, preparatory education college for nationalities, distance education college, continuing education college, higher vocational and technical college and other teaching units. At present, there are 68 undergraduate majors, 3 doctoral degree authorization points, 49 master's degree authorization points and 4 professional master's degree authorization points, 17 key disciplines at the autonomous region level, 38 scientific research institutions and 93 laboratories in various disciplines. Among them, the Key Laboratory of energy and chemical industry (natural gas conversion) is the cultivation base of the State Key Laboratory, the Key Laboratory of western characteristic biological resources protection and utilization (Biotechnology) is the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of education, the grape and wine Engineering Research Center is the engineering research center of the Ministry of education, and the Key Laboratory of Northwest degraded ecosystem restoration and reconstruction is the key laboratory jointly constructed by the province and the Ministry Xixia studies research center is the key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education. The University publishes 4 kinds of academic journals; in 1995, it became the main node of CERNET in Northwest Ningxia.

During the 11th Five Year Plan period, according to the idea of "combining connotation with denotation, focusing on connotation development", the university has made great efforts to improve the quality of education and teaching, continuously improve the level of scientific research, further enhance the ability to serve the society, and strive to build the university into a higher level teaching and research university with regional characteristics.
