Founded in 1956, Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine is one of the first four universities of traditional Chinese medicine established in New China. It is directly under the leadership of the Ministry of health and the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. In 2000, it was transferred to the Guangdong Provincial People's government. Now it is the key construction University of "211 Project" and the key discipline construction unit of high-level universities in Guangdong Province. Adhering to the unique spirit of openness and pragmatism of Lingnan people, the University vigorously promotes the reform and development of higher education of traditional Chinese medicine. At present, the university has 16 secondary colleges and 26 undergraduate majors, covering seven disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management, economics, literature and education. It has 6 first-class disciplines and 47 master's programs authorized by master's degree, 3 first-class disciplines and 19 doctor's programs authorized by doctor's degree.
