1、 School overview

Xi'an University of technology is a key high-level university in Shaanxi Province. It is a University jointly built by the people's Government of Shaanxi Province, the State Administration of science, technology and industry for national defense, China Ordnance Industry Group Corporation and China Ordnance Equipment Group Corporation. It has a complete undergraduate, master and doctoral education system and three post doctoral research stations. The school has a long history of running and has always been oriented to the development of national defense industry and regional economy. It has formed distinct advantages in military industry and school running characteristics. It has cultivated a large number of application-oriented senior professionals with high comprehensive quality and strong innovation ability, and has won wide praise from the society.

Founded in 1955, the university is a supporting project of 156 key construction projects in the first five year plan of the state. It is the only undergraduate college deployed in the northwest of China's weapons industry. The school has long been affiliated with the ordnance industry. In the course of running school for more than 60 years, adhering to the ordnance spirit of "giving everything to the party", the school has formed the school spirit of "being loyal and enterprising, precise and versatile" and the school motto of "encouraging learning with moral integrity, mutual benefit of knowledge and practice", and condensed the talent training characteristics of "paying attention to engineering practice and highlighting manufacturing technology". With the goal of building a high-level university, the University vigorously promotes the reform and construction of undergraduate teaching. In 2007, the University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with the "excellent" level, and in 2011, it became the pilot institution of the "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of education. In 2014, the Ministry of human resources and Social Security approved the establishment of post doctoral research mobile station. In 2016, it passed the undergraduate teaching audit and evaluation of the Ministry of education.

At present, the university has three doctoral degree authorized first-class disciplines and postdoctoral research mobile station, including optical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, 15 first-class master degree authorized disciplines and 6 professional authorization categories. The university has two first-class disciplines in Shaanxi Province, namely optical engineering, material science and engineering, and 12 "first-class majors" in Shaanxi universities, including measurement and control technology and instrument, computer science and technology. At present, the university has 54 undergraduate majors, covering 8 disciplines such as engineering, science, management, economics, law, literature, education and art. At present, the university has 15 colleges and 1 center, 1 national specialty comprehensive reform pilot specialty, 6 national characteristic specialty, 6 Ministry of education "excellence plan" pilot specialty, 9 provincial characteristic specialty and 8 provincial specialty comprehensive reform pilot specialty. The school enrolls students from 30 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions) in China, and enrolls one book in 18 provinces including Shaanxi, Henan, Hebei and Jiangsu.

The school has more than 2000 graduate students and 18000 undergraduate students, covering an area of more than 1200 mu, with a building area of more than 800000 square meters, a collection of more than 1780000 books and complete electronic literature resources. There are six provincial and ministerial key disciplines, including optical engineering, material science and engineering, and mechanical engineering, and provincial philosophy and social science characteristic disciplines of management science and engineering. The school has continuously strengthened the military characteristics of scientific research and expanded the field of national defense services. At present, the school undertakes national defense projects, National Natural Science Fund, National Social Science Fund, Ministry of science and technology, Ministry of education, provincial and municipal departments, enterprises and institutions and other projects. A number of key technological achievements with independent intellectual property rights have played an important role in the construction of national defense projects. The developed aluminum matrix composite piston has been equipped on five new types of main battle tanks and armored vehicles, participated in the 60th anniversary parade of national day and the "9.3" Anti Japanese War parade, and won the second prize of 2015 National Science and technology progress award. The achievements in optical manufacturing and optical thin film are applied to the development and production of key optical and crystal components for inertial confinement fusion, laser gyro, tactical laser weapons, etc. The key technologies of short-range antiaircraft gun and large caliber long-range gun barrel manufacturing are widely used in various warships, land shields and other weapons, and successfully equipped with "Liaoning" aircraft carrier.

The school attaches great importance to the reform of education and teaching, and has built 16 provincial-level experimental areas for innovation of talent training mode, which highlights the talent training characteristics of "focusing on engineering practice and highlighting manufacturing technology".
