Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences is a full-time undergraduate college sponsored by Chongqing Municipal People's government. Its predecessor, Chongqing Normal College and Yuzhou Institute of education, were founded in 1976 and 1972 respectively. In May 2001, the two colleges merged to form Yuxi University. In April 2005, the University changed its name to Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences.

The school is located in Yongchuan District, Chongqing, with two campuses, Honghe and Xinghu.
