Anhui Institute of engineering and technology is a provincial multidisciplinary higher engineering college and a key construction college in Anhui Province. It is located in Wuhu, a national open city. The school's history can be traced back to Anhui Private Neisi senior engineering school founded by the Spanish Catholic Jesuit Church in 1935. After liberation, it was renamed Wuhu electrical manufacturing school (Wuhu electrical school for short), which belongs to the first Ministry of mechanical industry of China. In 1972, the school changed its name to Wuhu Mechanical School. In 1977, as a teaching point of Hefei University of technology, it began to recruit full-time undergraduates. In December 1978, with the approval of the State Council, it was upgraded to a full-time regular undergraduate university, named Anhui Institute of mechanical and electrical engineering, and in December 2001, it was renamed Anhui Institute of engineering and technology.
