Liaoning College of Mechatronics is located in Dandong, the most beautiful border city in China, across the Yalu River from Sinuiju, North Korea. Founded in 1965, the college is an ordinary higher vocational college directly under the Education Department of Liaoning Province. It has been designated as the "national key construction vocational teacher training base", "national CNC technology shortage talent training base" by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China, and the "electrical, electronic and automation training base" supported by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance of the people's Republic of China. In 2007, the college passed the evaluation of personnel training in Higher Vocational Colleges organized by Liaoning Provincial Department of education, and successfully passed the ISO9001:2000 quality management system certification. The college covers an area of 530 mu, with a total area of 68000 square meters for teaching and administration. The north campus is located at 814 Taoyuan Street, Zhenxing District, Dandong City, and the south campus is located at the North Ring Road, border cooperation zone, Dandong City. In order to meet the needs of Liaoning (Dandong) instrumentation industry base construction, the college officially launched the campus expansion project in 2009. The new land is located in Dandong Lingang Industrial Park, covering an area of 218 Mu and a building area of 99000 square meters. The new campus expansion project was fully started in June 2009 and put into use in September 2010.

The college is a higher vocational college with engineering major as the main body, mechanical and electrical major as the feature, full-time academic education and vocational and technical training as the development. At present, there are more than 5000 full-time students in the school. There are seven teaching units, including mechanical engineering department, automatic control engineering department, Huanghai automobile engineering college, information engineering department, business administration department, basic teaching department and physical education department. The college has 355 teaching staff, including 227 full-time teachers and 67 part-time teachers.
