Shanghai Electric Power University is located in Shanghai, an international metropolis full of people and culture. It is a full-time University jointly built by the central government and Shanghai Municipality and mainly managed by Shanghai Municipality. The school was founded in 1951. It was born by electricity. Since its establishment 66 years ago, Shanghai electric power has trained more than 300000 energy and power talents, which has witnessed and supported the development and leap of China's power industry. In recent years, the school has won social praise in discipline construction with energy and power characteristics and applied talents training, and won the honorary title of "Shanghai May 1 labor certificate" in 2016.

University of ten thousand

The school has two campuses in Yangpu and Pudong, and the New Lingang campus is under construction. Among them, Yangpu campus is a base for specialty education with electric power characteristics, postgraduate education, adult education, medium and advanced training of electric power system, industry university research cooperation and innovation incubation of electric power technology; Pudong Campus is a base for undergraduate and postgraduate education and Sino foreign cooperation education. At present, the university has nearly 12000 full-time undergraduates and postgraduates.

The school has 12 secondary colleges and a department directly under it. The university has five disciplines of engineering, management, science, economics and liberal arts, with a total of 31 full-time undergraduate majors. Engineering, management and science are the main subjects. There are three national characteristic specialties, one pilot specialty of comprehensive reform of the Ministry of education, two pilot specialties of comprehensive reform of Shanghai, four key disciplines of Shanghai, five key disciplines of Shanghai Education Commission, and one first-class discipline of Shanghai University. The University obtained the master's degree authorization in 2006. At present, it has four first-class master's degree authorization points, including power engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering and technology, and physics. It has independently recruited and trained academic postgraduates in 18 first-class or second-class disciplines, and independently recruited and trained professional Postgraduates in 5 Master's degree authorization points.

Focus on the industry and serve the local

As the only one belt, one road named "power" and the most prominent energy University, the school has continuously improved the service industry and regional economic capacity. It has built the new energy center of Shanghai, the Shanghai smart grid Collaborative Innovation Center, the Shanghai electric power safety center, the national technology transfer center, the National University Science Park, and the "one belt and one road" energy research think tank.

In May 5, 2017, the one "one belt, one road" international training base for energy and electricity was established in our school. One belt, one road, will be built through the innovation of energy and electricity talents training mode and training system, and efforts will be made to build an important international energy and power education base.

The school helps the local economy and promotes the development of the industry with "high-tech" achievements. "Key technology of power disaster prevention and control in urban power grid" won the second prize of national science and technology progress award; "Key technology and engineering application of China's first large-scale offshore wind farm system" won the first prize of China Electric Power Science and technology progress award. Meanwhile, "key technology and application of offshore wind power demonstration project system of Donghai Bridge" provided technical support for the construction and operation of China's first large-scale offshore wind farm, and was selected as one of the five major projects of CCTV super project; "Power plant boiler flue gas desulfurization optimization technology" helps Waigaoqiao No.3 Power Plant to become "the cleanest thermal power plant in the world"; "key technology and application of urban traffic intelligent road network", "energy utilization design of Yangpu New Jiangwan City" and so on closely serve the Shanghai World Expo and the construction of Shanghai low energy consumption community, and achieve remarkable social and economic benefits.

Strong discipline and strong teachers

The school vigorously promotes the "young and middle-aged teacher training project", implements the "power characteristic teacher team training plan" (referred to as the "double teacher plan"), and creates a high-level teacher team that meets the needs of applied talents training. The school has more than 1100 teaching staff and 780 full-time teachers. The proportion of full-time teachers with master's degree or above is more than 90%, and the proportion with doctor's degree is more than 50%. More than 50% of full-time teachers have senior professional and technical positions.

Innovation and development of international exchanges

In recent years, the international exchange and cooperation of our university have made great progress. It has established friendly and mutually beneficial exchange relations with a number of colleges and universities in the UK, France, the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, Germany, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries, and signed substantive cooperation agreements on inter school exchange and cooperation in running schools. The one belt, one road (North) one (red) road one is actively built around one country's "one belt, one road" strategy. The foreign related training projects directly train the backbone of the power production area along the "one belt and one road". The University initiated the establishment of "adept International Electric Power University Alliance". At present, 10 famous electric power universities from 10 countries including Britain, Germany and Russia have joined the alliance, implemented overseas study and internship projects, promoted students to study abroad on public assignment, and accepted foreign university students to our university for short-term exchange study, which has a good influence at home and abroad.

The school enrolls students in 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions, and the quality of students is excellent. In 2016, the lowest admission score of our school in 21 provinces exceeded the local control line, and the average admission score in 5 provinces exceeded the local control line.

In the past three years, the employment rate of the school has always been above 95%, of which the employment rate of graduates in 2016 reached 97.71%, and the graduates are welcomed and praised by the employers.
