Fujian Institute of engineering is located in Fuzhou, a famous historical and cultural city known as the gateway of "maritime Silk Road". The school was founded in 1896 by Chen Bi, sun Baoli and Li Jun, the famous local sages in the late Qing Dynasty, Lin Shu, the famous min gentry, and Chen Baochen, the last imperial teacher. It was the first modern style of education in Fuzhou. In 1908, it began to hold industrial education and set up railway and telegraph subjects. Before liberation, it was known as "Fujian high tech". After 1953, it was divided into Fujian electrical and mechanical engineering school and Fujian construction engineering college. The two schools changed their names with times. After that, they were adjusted and merged by Fujian advanced industrial school, Fujian occupation vocational college, Fujian Career Technical College, Fujian Architectural College and so on. In 2002, Fujian University of Technology was founded. In 2013, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as an authorized unit for master's degree, and was identified as a key construction university in Fujian Province.
