Minzu University of China is located in Haidian District, Beijing, with numerous universities. It is adjacent to the National Library in the South and Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in the north. The campus environment is elegant, simple and beautiful, and has a strong humanistic atmosphere, with distinct national characteristics.
The predecessor of the Central University for nationalities is the Institute for Nationalities founded by the Communist Party of China in Yan'an in September 1941. In June 1951, the Central Institute for nationalities was officially established in Beijing, and Wu Lanfu was the first president. In November 1993, it was renamed the Central University for nationalities. All previous leading collectives of the party and the state have always been concerned about and attached importance to the construction and development of the Central University for nationalities. From the beginning of its establishment to 1966, Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and other party and state leaders successively received representatives of teachers and students of the school 14 times. After the reform and opening up, Deng Xiaoping received representatives of teachers and students three times. In 1993, when the University changed its name to the Central University for nationalities, President Jiang Zemin wrote a new name for the University. In June 2001, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the University, Premier Zhu Rongji visited the University and, on behalf of the central government, put forward the goal of "building the Central University for Nationalities into a world-class university for Nationalities". In the same year, Hu Jintao, Li Lanqing and other state leaders personally approved the "request for instructions on further running the Central University for Nationalities" jointly submitted by the State Commission for democracy and people's livelihood, the Ministry of education, the State Planning Commission and the Ministry of finance. In June 2002, the State Commission for democracy and people's livelihood, the Ministry of education and the Beijing Municipal People's government signed the agreement on the key construction of the Central University for nationalities. Under the great attention of the party and the state, the University was approved as a national key university in 1978, and entered the ranks of "211 Project" and "985 Project" national key construction universities in 1999 and 2004.
At present, the university has 23 colleges, including 63 undergraduate majors covering 10 disciplines, 5 doctoral degree authorization points of first-class disciplines, 25 master degree authorization points of first-class disciplines, 3 national key disciplines, 5 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 17 second-class disciplines, 2 national talent training and scientific research bases of basic arts disciplines, 1 key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education, and 3 universities It is a national "985 Project" philosophy and social science innovation base.
At the beginning of the school, a group of famous scholars, such as pan Guangdan, Wu Wenzao, Fei Xiaotong, Weng Dujian, Wu Zelin, Feng Jiasheng, Yang Chengzhi, Lin Yaohua, Fu Lehuan, Yu Daoquan, wen you, Ma Xueliang, Wang Zhonghan and so on, became the important founders of teaching, scientific research and discipline construction. The total number of teaching staff is 2137, including 1197 full-time teachers, 695 professors and associate professors, accounting for 58% of the total number of full-time teachers. Among them are Dai Qingxia, Wang Yao, Zhang Gongjin, Mou Zhongjian, Hu Zhenhua, Shi Zhengyi, Liu Bingjiang, Ma Yue, MI Ruo, Li kuizheng, Yang Shengmin, Jin Binghao, Xue Dayuan and other well-known experts and scholars, as well as many emerging young and middle-aged rookies, who have gradually become leaders in the academic circle. The university has established exchange and cooperation relations with 140 universities and scientific research institutions in 33 countries and regions. The university enrolls students from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. There are 15737 full-time students, including 11310 undergraduate students, 4067 master's and doctoral students, and 183 minority preparatory students. Among the undergraduate students (including preparatory students), 54% are ethnic minority students. The school is the receiving School of "Chinese Government Scholarship" for international students, with 734 students from 52 countries studying in school. Since its establishment, the university has provided more than 100000 graduates of various nationalities to the country. Among them, there are nearly 1000 well-known experts and scholars, nearly 100 provincial and ministerial level leading cadres of ethnic minorities, nearly 1000 prefecture level leading cadres, and more than 10000 county level leading cadres. The school now covers an area of 378000 square meters, and the planned new campus covers an area of 810000 square meters. The building area of the campus is 583000 square meters, the teaching and administrative room is more than 200000 square meters, and the total asset value is 2.4 billion yuan. It has more than 3 million books and e-books of all kinds, and the collection of ethnology, Chinese minority language and literature books and materials ranks in the forefront of domestic universities. The University Press is the publishing base of textbooks and works on ethnic subjects in China. Journal of Central University for Nationalities and Research on ethnic education are the national core journals issued at home and abroad. There are more than 30000 precious national cultural relics in the National Museum, which has become a base for students' patriotic education and teaching practice.
