Luoyang Institute of technology is a provincial full-time undergraduate college. It is located in Luoyang, one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties and the vice central city of Central Plains Economic Zone, which is known as "Millennium imperial capital, peony city".

In March 2007, Luoyang Polytechnic College, which was directly under the former Ministry of building materials, merged with the former Luoyang university to form Luoyang Institute of technology. In the course of more than 60 years, the school has always adhered to the socialist school running direction, adhering to the school running philosophy of "let the government rest assured, let the society be satisfied, and let the students benefit", deepening the school running orientation of "industry, locality, and application type", and has successively trained more than 170000 senior professionals for the national building materials industry and local economic and social development. In 2013, the University was established as one of the first five pilot colleges of transformation and development in Henan Province. In 2014, the University passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education with excellent results. In 2016, the University was identified as a demonstration Undergraduate College of Applied Technology in Henan Province.

Covering an area of 2229 mu, the school has three campuses of Wangcheng, Kaiyuan and Jiudu, with a total construction area of 922800 square meters. The campus has a beautiful environment and is a garden unit in Henan Province. The total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment of the university is 262 million yuan. There are 54 laboratories and 148 practice bases inside and outside the University. The library has 2.04 million paper books, 1.48 million e-books, more than 2400 Chinese and foreign periodicals and 23 full-text databases. There are Li Jun memorial hall, Li Jinxue Art Museum and other theme exhibition halls in the school. With standardized management, the school is an advanced unit of national spiritual civilization construction, a home of national model workers, and a provincial civilized unit. The school has won the honorary title of "advanced unit of school professional style construction" in Henan Province for seven consecutive years.

The school adheres to the connotative development road, stabilizes the scale, optimizes the structure and improves the quality. At present, there are 29000 full-time school-based junior college students, mainly focusing on engineering, with coordinated development of science, management, literature, economics, law, education, art and other disciplines. The school adheres to the priority of teaching, integrates production and education, and constantly deepens the reform of talent training mode. There are 14 colleges, 2 basic teaching departments and 5 special education colleges. At present, there are 1769 teaching staff, including 112 with senior professional title, 432 with deputy senior professional title, 225 with doctor's degree, 806 with master's degree, and 637 with double qualification. It has 12 provincial scientific research platforms, including Henan postdoctoral research and development base, "Henan prefabricated building structure engineering technology research center" and "Henan tunnel and Underground Engineering academician workstation", and co builds Luoyang Research Institute of Zhengzhou University with Zhengzhou University and Luoyang Municipal People's government. School adhere to the characteristics of school, innovative development, service national building materials industry development strategy. China's China China Association one belt, one road construction project, has been elected vice chairman unit of China ASEAN building materials cooperation committee, vice chairman of China Building Materials International capacity cooperation enterprise alliance and chairman of the new material professional cooperation association of China Association of Applied Technology University. The school has China Building Materials Federation, China Machine metallurgy building materials trade union training base, China building materials international production capacity cooperation enterprise alliance training professional committee. The university is one of the first batch of "Ministry of education ZTE ICT industry education integration innovation base", the first batch of Ministry of education data China "hundred school project" project universities, HP Luoyang international software talent and industry base project cooperation universities.

The University adheres to the goal of cultivating high-level application-oriented talents with strong sense of social responsibility, solid basic theory, strong innovative spirit and practical ability, and cooperates with Zhengzhou University and Luoyang Refractory Research Institute of China Steel Group to cultivate master's degree students. "QianDu maker space" is the "national maker space", and the University Science Park is the provincial university science park, which incubates 100 science and technology-based small, medium and micro enterprises, with the total income of technology, industry and trade reaching more than 18 million yuan in 2017.

In recent three years, the university has won 1288 awards at or above the provincial level in the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' extracurricular academic and technological works competition, National College Students' electronic design competition, National College Students' mathematical modeling competition and other competitions, including 212 national awards. In 2015, the University won the national "school level excellent organization award". In the "Challenge Cup" competition of Henan Province, he won the "winning Cup" of Henan Province twice. The University adheres to open-door education and carries out in-depth cooperation with high-level application-oriented universities at home and abroad. We will further implement the education cooperation project between Henan and Shanghai, carry out comprehensive strategic cooperation with Shanghai University of applied technology, and jointly build a "Demonstration School of China Finland University of Applied Technology" with Tampere University of Applied Technology in Finland. It has carried out teaching and scientific research cooperation with more than 10 foreign universities such as hooverhampton University, osnabluc University of Applied Sciences in Germany and Okayama University in Japan. It has jointly established a materials research center with the Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy. It has held three cooperative school running projects with aslon Institute of technology in Ireland and Rome National Polytechnic University in Moscow, and accepted the support from Russia and South Korea And other countries.

In 2018, the university plans to recruit 9320 students from 30 provinces, cities and autonomous regions, including 6420 students from 49 undergraduate majors (including 1420 students from Henan Province who are upgraded from junior college to undergraduate), and 2900 students from 28 junior college majors. There are five new majors in the undergraduate program, including resource recycling science and engineering, welding technology and engineering, robotics engineering, automotive service engineering, data science and big data technology. Three new specialties, food biotechnology, electrical automation technology and power system automation technology, were added to the college.
