Founded in 1984, shagong is the first city (county) public university in China. It has been written into the history of Chinese higher education and included in the large-scale historical picture book of the seventy years of the Communist Party of China. Professor Qian Weichang, former vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and famous scientist, once served as honorary president of the college for a long time. Hu Yaobang's inscription "sand workers are like the Yangtze River, and there are countless talents rolling in", and Fei Xiaotong's motto "diligence, realism, pioneering and enterprising", have been concerned by Li Lanqing, Liu Yandong and many other central leaders. Sand workers have become an important historical witness of Zhangjiagang people's "changing destiny with knowledge".

2. First class teaching facilities, strong teaching staff, comfortable living environment

College teaching are equipped with multimedia equipment, with gigabit optical fiber network, campus WiFi full coverage, each specialty has built an advanced campus training room, and nearly 100 teaching and training bases with enterprises.

The college has a strong faculty: 235 full-time teachers, including 94 teachers with senior titles (9 full-time professors). Among the full-time teachers, 54.37% have doctor's or master's degrees, and 75% have double qualification. There are six departments, including construction engineering, textile engineering, electronic information engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, mechanical power engineering and economic management, with more than 30 majors.

The student canteen adopts hotel management. The business hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and you can enjoy a wide range of dishes with good quality and low price. The student canteen management committee calculates, formulates and supervises the food prices in the canteen, which can be described as "low-cost life, no discount for happiness"!

Student dormitories are managed as apartments, with 24-hour service. The dormitory is equipped with air conditioning, water heater, independent toilet, vending machine, network and other facilities.

3. Characteristic growth platform: one park, two libraries, two centers, warm campus culture, sound funding policy

The college has established a sound entrepreneurship education system and built a high-quality entrepreneurship Park for college students. In 2015, the college won the titles of Suzhou College Students' entrepreneurship Park and the first batch of mass innovation space in Suzhou. The school provides free housing, shops and other facilities for students to start their own business.

The school has libraries, gymnasiums and gymnasiums, table tennis rooms, billiards rooms, yoga rooms, auditorium (a wonderful movie is played every week) and other venues, which are open to students for free.
