Chongqing Chemical Industry Vocational College is a state-owned general higher vocational college approved by Chongqing Municipal People's government, registered and approved by the Ministry of education, directly under Chongqing Economic and Information Commission and in charge of Chongqing Education Commission. It is also the only vocational college in Chongqing that specializes in cultivating high-level application-oriented talents in chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

Founded in 1964, after nearly half a century of painstaking efforts of chemical vocational education personnel, the college has formed a multi-level and multi form school running pattern with full-time ordinary higher vocational education as the main body and full-time adult college, part-time class, short training class, etc., with nearly 5000 students at present. The college is located on the North Bank of the beautiful Jialing River, close to the Guanyinqiao business district in the north of the Jinjie River in the West. It has a convenient and fast life, quiet campus environment, flowery fragrance, natural scenery and humanistic atmosphere. The spirit of science and education and educational atmosphere complement each other. It is an ideal place for students to study.

The college has outstanding professional characteristics, including five teaching departments of Applied Chemistry, chemical engineering, automation engineering, mechanical engineering and economic management, and more than 20 specialties (types of work), including industrial analysis and inspection, industrial automation, applied chemical technology, chemical equipment maintenance technology, analysis and environmental monitoring, safety technology management, logistics management and e-commerce Analysis and inspection, industrial automation, application of chemical technology, chemical equipment maintenance technology has great influence in the country, and it is also a brand specialty carefully built by the college.

The college has perfect training facilities, with nearly 20 off campus training bases, tens of millions of yuan worth of on campus training base equipment, 8000 square meters of training space, and more than 70 large and small laboratories, which can fully meet the training needs of students of various majors. Analysis and detection training room, chemical engineering training room, automation engineering and other key training rooms have obvious advantages in Chongqing and even the Western similar vocational colleges. In 2008, the college's training base was rated as "national demonstration training base" by China Petrochemical Industry Association and China Chemical Education Association.

There are 205 teachers in the college, 54 full-time teachers with senior professional titles or above, accounting for 33%; 42 graduate students or above, and 78 double qualified teachers. They have rich teaching experience, advanced teaching means and outstanding scientific research ability. The college adheres to the school running philosophy of "education oriented, quality based, characteristic development, and serving the society". It adopts the internationally accepted EMS module teaching, pays attention to teaching interaction and teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, comprehensively implements quality education, and cultivates application-oriented high skilled talents for the society. From 2006 to 2009, the college students won four group first prizes and one group second prize in the national and municipal chemical inspection skills competition.

The college adheres to the characteristic school running road of deep integration of school and enterprise, attaches great importance to the employment placement of students, cooperates with large and high-quality enterprises in many industries, such as Chongqing chemical medicine holding (Group) company, establishes a stable internship and employment base, and carries out order type talent training for enterprises, forming a wide range of employment opportunities in chemical, pharmaceutical, light industry, machinery, food, tourism and other industries in Chongqing Employment network. In the past six years, the employment rate of college graduates is more than 98%.
