The predecessor of the college is a social university founded in 1946 with general Feng Yuxiang as the chairman, famous educator Tao Xingzhi as the president, Li Gongfu as the vice president, Zhang Lan and Shen Junru as the directors. In 1985, it was renamed "Chongqing social university". In 2005, with the approval of Chongqing Municipal People's government and the examination and approval of the Ministry of education, it was renamed "Chongqing Minsheng vocational and Technical College".
