Three Gorges Electric Power Vocational College

Three Gorges electric power vocational college is a full-time general college approved by the people's Government of Hubei Province and registered by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. The campus is located on the top of Dongshan mountain in the center of Yichang City, Hubei Province, which is the world's capital of water and electricity. It covers an area of 429 mu, with a total construction area of more than 150000 square meters. The campus has a pleasant scenery and the fragrance of birds and flowers all year round. It not only brings the charm of beautiful mountains and water, but also the aura of the city of water and electricity. It is an ideal place for reading and studying.

The college has established the school running concept of "market-oriented, student-centered, ability oriented and characteristic driven development". It has six teaching units, including Department of power engineering, Department of electric power engineering, Department of architectural engineering, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of economic management and Department of environmental art. It has set up water conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, power plant and power system, thermal power plant, tourism English, etc 18 Higher Vocational Majors. The college has more than 6000 students.

The college has a team of "double qualified" teachers with high professional theoretical level and rich practical teaching experience. At present, there are 380 registered teaching staff, among which 55% of full-time teachers have professional titles above deputy senior level, 80% of professional teachers have professional practical skill level certificate or relevant work experience, 50% of teachers have participated in the construction of key water conservancy and electric power projects, and 40 technical experts from hydropower industry, enterprises and institutions have been employed as visiting professors. In recent years, the college has completed more than 80 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, compiled and published more than 50 teaching materials for teaching reform, and won more than 200 awards in various national and provincial vocational skills competitions. Among them, the foundation of hydraulic technology won the first prize of the textbook reform of the Ministry of labor of the people's Republic of China, the computer software automatic control device of tower crane rail clamping device developed by teachers has been widely used in the Three Gorges project, and the students won the first prize in the national Undergraduate Electronic Design Competition organized by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China.

The college adheres to the characteristic school running idea of relying on the industry and facing the society, "based on the Three Gorges region and serving the electric power industry", vigorously carries out the talent training mode of "task driven", "project oriented" and "post practice" which integrates "teaching, learning and doing". It has trained more than 20000 excellent graduates for the electric power system and the whole society, and has implemented more than 60000 vocational training. Since the beginning of the new century, the employment rate of college graduates is more than 93%, and graduates are all over the country. Most of them are employed in large-scale power enterprises, hydropower systems, well-known factories and mining enterprises with high level, high skills and high wages, and are widely welcomed by employers. At present, more than 100 units such as China Gezhouba Group Corporation, Hunan thermal power construction company, Jiangxi Hydropower Engineering Bureau, Guizhou power grid power transmission and distribution company, Hubei Yihua group and Zhongnan precision steel pipe plant have become the main employment units of students.

The college has been awarded the title of "model school of electric power vocational and technical education" by the former Ministry of electric power, the title of "advanced collective of vocational education" by Hubei Provincial People's government, the title of "advanced school of logistics management" by Hubei Provincial Department of education, and the title of "garden unit" by Yichang municipal people's government. In 2007, China Vocational and Technical Education Association elected the college as its governing unit, and China Electric Power Association recognized the college as one of the first batch of "high skilled talents training bases in power industry".

At present, teachers and students of the college are adhering to the strategic idea of "education should face the world, modernization and future", adhering to the school motto of "diligence, versatility, integrity and fitness", striving to build the college into a national well-known and distinctive provincial first-class vocational college!
