Ningxia vocational and technical college for nationalities is a public full-time ordinary higher vocational college approved by the people's Government of the autonomous region and put on record by the Ministry of education. It is also Wuzhong vocational and technical education center. The college has the qualification to issue full-time vocational and technical college and technical secondary school level academic certificate and intermediate and advanced national vocational qualification certificate. The college was formerly Ningxia public school for Nationalities founded in 1952, and was renamed Wuzhong normal school in 1956. In February 2001, the former Wuzhong normal school, Wuzhong vocational and technical education center and Wuzhong technical secondary school for workers merged to establish Wuzhong vocational and technical college, which is the earliest higher vocational and technical college in the region. In December 2006, with the approval of the people's Government of the autonomous region, it was renamed Ningxia vocational and technical college for nationalities, which was registered and announced by the Ministry of education in May 2007. It has a history of 56 years.

The college has 248 staff, including 215 teachers, 2 professors, 68 associate professors, 88 lecturers, 68 "double qualification" teachers, 77 postgraduates (including students) and 2 foreign teachers.

At present, there are five departments and two departments, namely, Department of economic management, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of art, Department of foreign languages, Department of education, Department of distance and adult education, and Department of secondary vocational education. It has set up 18 Higher Vocational Majors, 12 secondary vocational majors, 16 correspondence majors, and 8 adult undergraduate majors. At the same time, it also has a secondary automobile driving school, an automobile driving examination center, a national vocational skill appraisal institute (with intermediate and advanced vocational skill appraisal qualifications for 8 types of work), and an autonomous region Primary school teacher training base, primary and secondary school teacher information technology training base, national computer information technology examination station, special operation personnel safety technology training center, "sunshine project" training base, rural labor transfer training base, etc.

The new campus under construction of the college covers an area of 926 mu. The first phase of the project is planned and constructed according to 5000 people, with a building area of 107567 m2. The project started in April 2008 and was put into use in September 2009. The South Campus (Jinji) covers an area of 60 mu, with a driving school and a driving test center.

In terms of equipment and facilities, a network center with more than 1000 computers, 19 multimedia classrooms and voice rooms, 41 other experimental and training rooms, 150000 books (including 30000 e-books) in the library, and the total value of teaching instruments and equipment reached 35.06 million yuan. The 20 million yuan training equipment supported by the autonomous region has been purchased through bidding. At that time, seven experimental training centers will be built with seven key construction specialties of mechatronics, application technology and maintenance of numerical control equipment, interior design technology, accounting computerization, halal food processing technology, application of Arabic and computer application (Network Technology) as the leader, and the number of experimental training rooms will reach more than 100, which will truly become a comprehensive training base with complete facilities and perfect functions In order to realize the resource sharing of vocational education and training institutions in Wuzhong City, we should fundamentally improve the conditions of the training base and improve the level of running schools. The college has established off campus practice bases with 32 enterprises and institutions inside and outside the District, including Ningxia Wanxing machinery group, Qingdao Haier Group, Wuzhong Hezhong automobile maintenance company and Wuzhong Instrument Co., Ltd.

There are more than 4000 students at all levels, including 3020 full-time students and more than 1000 correspondence and adult education students.

In the past eight years, the Institute has provided 3068 graduates with skills, integrity and ability for Wuzhong City and its surrounding areas, and the employment situation is good. The employment rate of graduates majoring in skills and preschool education is more than 98%, while the average employment rate of students majoring in other majors is more than 85%. At the same time, more than 200 training courses were held and 20800 social personnel were trained, which made a positive contribution to Wuzhong's economic and social development and the acceleration of urbanization.

The college has won 13 honorary titles of autonomous region such as "civilized unit of the autonomous region", "model school of democratic management of the autonomous region's education system", and more than 10 municipal commendations such as "advanced collective of Wuzhong education", "advanced collective of Wuzhong vocational education" and "advanced collective of Wuzhong talent work". In 2003, it was confirmed as one of the first batch of Key Construction Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges in Ningxia; in 2005, it won the first place in the evaluation of primary school and kindergarten teacher training in the whole region; it won the sixth place in the evaluation of Ideological and political education of college students in the whole region, ranking second in higher vocational colleges. In November 2006, it took the lead in passing the Ministry of education's evaluation of talent training in Higher Vocational Colleges in the region and obtained a good grade.
