Nanjing University of technology, with a history of one hundred years, is a multidisciplinary university focusing on engineering, with the coordinated development of science, management, economics, arts, law, philosophy and medicine. It was established in 2001 by the merger of the former Nanjing University of chemical technology and the former Nanjing Institute of Architectural Engineering. It is a key construction university in Jiangsu Province and a pilot University for the comprehensive system reform of higher education in Jiangsu Province. The predecessor of the former Nanjing University of chemical technology can be traced back to Sanjiang normal school founded in 1902, and the predecessor of the former Nanjing Institute of architecture and engineering can be traced back to the machinist Department of Tongji Medical Engineering School founded in 1915. Both of them have a long history and strong strength in running schools.

The school adheres to personnel training as the foundation. Strengthening the position of teaching center, striving to build and continuously optimize the talent training system, won the "Jiangsu Provincial Quality Award" in 2010. At present, there is one national intellectual property training base, two national teaching teams and one national experimental teaching demonstration center, There are 12 national characteristic specialty construction sites, 3 National Excellent Courses, 2 National Bilingual Teaching Demonstration Courses, 6 brand specialties in Jiangsu Province, 5 characteristic specialties in Jiangsu Province, 7 brand and characteristic specialty construction sites in Jiangsu Province, 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers and 4 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. There are 1574 patent applications and 637 authorized patents, of which the number of invention patents accounts for about 80% of the total number of applications, and the number and quality of patent applications rank in the forefront of colleges and universities in the province. There are 1633 scie papers, ranking 47 in 2010, and 1565 EI papers, ranking 54.

The school adheres to social service and shows vitality. We should strengthen institutional innovation and vigorously promote the capitalization of knowledge; build a university science and technology park with "one park, three districts" to boost the innovation and Entrepreneurship of teachers and students; continue to expand the development periphery and build a triple helix system of universities, governments and enterprises. It has fully cooperated with more than 10 local governments such as Wuxi, Taizhou and Suqian. The university has stepped up its efforts in opening up to the outside world. It has established cooperative relations in scientific research and personnel training with 66 universities and research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy and New Zealand, and has undertaken dozens of international cooperative scientific research projects. Nobel laureates and foreign experts, such as Mundell and Aron sizanova, were invited to give lectures at the University. The scale and level of teachers' public sending abroad for further study and students' foreign exchange were continuously improved. 44 teachers and management talents were successively selected to take temporary posts in local governments or units.
