Qiongtai normal college is a public full-time ordinary college approved by the Ministry of education. Its predecessor, Qiongtai college, was founded in 1705, which has a history of more than 300 years. Qiongtai Academy was the only government Academy in Qiongzhou in Qing Dynasty. It was the cradle of Hainan to explore flowers, to become a scholar and to raise people. Over the past three hundred years, Qiongtai has bravely established the historical tide, spread advanced culture, promoted social progress, cultivated many talents for the economic construction and social development of the southern border areas, and created a "century old normal university" with a reputation at home and abroad. The school is the only normal college in Hainan Province to undertake the training of primary and kindergarten teachers. In 2010, he began to undertake the work of "national training plan - replacement and off job training for key teachers of rural primary schools in Hainan Province", and in 2011, he was designated as the only implementation unit of "national training plan" for preschool teachers in Hainan Province.

The school covers an area of 1067 mu, with a construction area of 300000 square meters, more than 10000 students and 634 teaching staff. There are 459 full-time teachers, including 144 professors and associate professors, and 30 part-time senior professional titles at home and abroad. Among the teachers, many have won the titles of national excellent educators, national special paste experts, provincial excellent experts and provincial famous teachers. Many have been selected into the first, second and third levels of the provincial "515" talent project. In the past three years, the school teachers have presided over and completed 10 national courses and nearly 100 provincial projects. The school has 9 departments and 1 College, and now has 10 teacher education majors and 30 non teacher education majors. Among them, 8 courses are provincial-level excellent courses, and Chinese education, preschool education, art education, accounting computerization and mathematics education are the special majors of Higher Vocational Colleges in Hainan Province.

Currently, the school has 600000 paper books, 380000 electronic books, 3 modern equipment and equipment experimental buildings, 5 training bases funded by the central government, including art design, music and dance, preschool education, golf and hotel management. The computer experimental teaching center has been rated as "provincial experimental teaching demonstration center" in Hainan Province. The school has also opened more than 100 training and employment bases in Hainan, Guangdong, Shanghai and other regions. The school has advanced school running concept, distinctive talent training characteristics and comprehensive quality of graduates, which are welcomed by the majority of employers.

In 2009, the school successfully passed the evaluation of talent training. In 2010, the school was identified as the provincial backbone Vocational Construction College, and the kindergarten affiliated to the school was identified as the provincial demonstration park. In 2015, the school was awarded the title of "national civilized unit" by the Central Committee of civilization for the fourth time
