Shandong Jiaotong University was founded in 1956. In 2000, it was transferred to Shandong Province by the Ministry of communications, and implemented the management system of central and local co construction, focusing on local management. In 2002, it was approved by the Ministry of education to become a regular undergraduate university. In 2007, the Ministry of communications and Shandong Province signed a document to jointly build Shandong Jiaotong University. In 2009, Shandong provincial government approved it as the training base for ship and ocean engineering professionals in Shandong Province, and the Provincial Department of Education approved it as the first batch of joint training base units for graduate students in Shandong Province. In 2011, the University became one of the "top 50 employment colleges in China" with typical experience, and was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a pilot work unit for training master's degree graduates.
