Guizhou University was founded in 1902, after Guizhou University, provincial Guizhou University, national Guizhou Institute of agriculture and technology, national Guizhou University, etc. in October 1950, it was named Guizhou University. In August 1997, it merged with Guizhou Agricultural University. In August 2004, it merged with Guizhou University of technology; in December of the same year, it became a University jointly built by the Ministry of education and Guizhou Provincial People's government; in September 2005, it entered the ranks of the national "211 Project" university construction; in 2012, it was listed as one of the 14 universities in the national "comprehensive strength improvement project of universities in central and Western China". In November 1951, Comrade Mao Zedong personally wrote the name of Guizhou University. From 1985 to 1988, when Hu Jintao was the Secretary of Guizhou provincial Party committee, he was very concerned about the construction and development of Guizhou University. He inspected and guided the work of Guizhou University many times, and became the "honorary class member" of the applied mathematics class of grade 85.
