Tongren Vocational and technical college was approved by Guizhou Provincial People's Government in June 2002, covering an area of 1160 mu. On December 16, 2015, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the people's Government of Guizhou Province signed an agreement on the co construction of Tongren Vocational and technical college, and the college became a "province ministry co construction" University by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the people's Government of Guizhou Province. At present, the college has 30758 full-time students, including 372 undergraduates, 13386 vocational students and 153 international students. Students come from 13 countries including Russia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Cameroon, Syria, Nepal, Mongolia, Pakistan, Rwanda, Somalia, Ethiopia and 26 provinces and autonomous regions in China. At present, there are 802 teaching staff, including 41 teachers with high professional titles, 154 teachers with deputy high professional titles, 11 doctors, 210 masters, 341 teachers with double qualification, 1 provincial management expert and 6 municipal management experts. At present, the college has 8 on campus training centers such as biotechnology and pharmaceutical technology, 16 on campus productive training bases, and established training bases in cooperation with 361 enterprises and villages, forming a multi-functional training base integrating "teaching, learning, doing, research, promotion, training and production". In September 2013, the post doctoral research station jointly built by Guizhou Fanjingshan Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., Tongren Polytechnic College and Guizhou University was approved; In October of the same year, the "national and local joint Engineering Center for separation and purification technology of ethnic Chinese veterinary drugs" constructed by Tongren Vocational and technical college was approved by the national development and Reform Commission, which is the only national engineering center in Tongren City at present; In November of the same year, "national Chinese veterinary medicine and ecological animal husbandry talent base" was approved by Guizhou talent work leading group, and it is the only provincial talent base in Tongren City at present. In November 2015, Guizhou National Chinese Veterinary Medicine Engineering Technology Research Center, led and participated by Tongren Vocational and technical college, was approved to become the highest level scientific research and innovation platform and talent team in Guizhou. Tongren Polytechnic ranked 64th in the competitiveness of Higher Vocational Colleges in China, ranking first in Guizhou Province.
