Zhejiang Vocational and Technical College of economics is a full-time Provincial Public Higher Vocational College, formerly known as Zhejiang material school (under the former Zhejiang Material Bureau). It was founded in 1978 and officially upgraded to higher vocational college in January 2002 with the approval of Zhejiang Provincial People's government. In October 2003, it moved to Hangzhou Xiasha Higher Education Park. At present, the campus covers an area of 576.5 mu, with a construction area of 220000 square meters, more than 7200 students and a total collection of nearly 700000 books. It is mainly aimed at training high-quality skilled talents for modern logistics industry serving manufacturing industry. It has built professional groups of logistics equipment application, logistics operation technology, logistics information technology, logistics equipment post service, real estate, etc. required by the development of the industry. It has set up nearly 30 majors such as logistics management, e-commerce, port logistics, air crew, automobile detection and maintenance technology, etc.

The college has a strong industrial background and the support of industry leading groups. It has a close industry university cooperation relationship with Zhejiang Products Group Co., Ltd., which has been ranked in the top 100 of China's top 500 enterprises for seven consecutive years and the top two of Zhejiang's top 100 enterprises for six consecutive years. Logistics and automobile (including logistics machinery) have become the leader unit of professional cooperation group in higher vocational colleges. Logistics operation technology specialty cooperates with Alibaba to promote "Alibaba certification". At present, the college has 2 provincial key majors and 4 national excellent courses.

The college adopts the way of "going out and inviting in" to build a production training base with leading enterprises such as Zhejiang products group, and actively constructs the Industrial College base mode of "production training post practice". It focuses on the construction of logistics base, automobile and logistics machinery post service base, logistics information base and other integrated bases inside and outside the University, and gradually builds a series of training platforms including general, production simulation and production training base. At present, there are two training bases for vocational education supported by the central finance, one national training base for vocational college students (logistics) and one LUPA training base of the Ministry of education.
