Nanjing Normal University is located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. It is a key university of Jiangsu Province and a University jointly built by Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of education. Its main source can be traced back to Sanjiang normal school founded in 1902, which is one of the birthplaces of Higher Normal Education in China. Later, it went through the periods of Liangjiang superior normal school, Nanjing Higher Normal School, Southeast University, the fourth Sun Yat sen University, Jiangsu University, Central University and Nanjing University; the other source was Huiwen academy founded in 1888, which later developed into private Jinling University. In 1951, it merged with private Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences (formerly known as private Jinling Women's University) to establish public Jinling University. In 1952, the national colleges and departments were adjusted, and Nanjing Normal University was established on the basis of the former Nanjing University, Jinling University and other related colleges and departments.
