Shandong modern vocational college was founded in 1993. On the basis of Shandong Minjin College of advanced Chinese and Western medicine and Shandong modern computer college in 2003, approved by the people's Government of Shandong Province and put on record by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China, Shandong modern vocational college has become a full-time private college with independent diploma qualification. It is the only member training base of Shandong Minjin Committee. In May 2014, with the approval of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China, it was agreed to build Shandong modern college, an application-oriented undergraduate university, on the basis of Shandong modern vocational college.

The college is located in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, with superior geographical position and beautiful environment, covering an area of 1266 mu. There are seven secondary colleges, including school of electronic information, School of architectural engineering, School of automotive technology, School of economics and management, School of nursing, School of medicine and School of humanities. There are 32 Higher Vocational Majors, and each student will obtain at least one professional qualification certificate upon graduation. In recent years, the acquisition rate of students' double certificates has remained above 90%.
