Yibin vocational and technical college is located in the west suburb of Yibin City, which is known as "the first city of the Yangtze River", on the Bank of Jinsha River and at the foot of Shizishan. It is a public full-time comprehensive college for national enrollment. In 2006, the college was evaluated as excellent by the Ministry of education. In 2010, it became the construction unit of national backbone higher vocational colleges. In 2016, it passed the backbone construction acceptance of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of Finance and became a national demonstration backbone higher vocational college.  

The college covers an area of 819 mu, with a planned area of 1245 mu, a building area of 217 thousand square meters, and a total of about 60000000 yuan of teaching and testing equipment. There are 6 classified experimental training technology centers (Baijiu filling, machining, mold processing, tea processing four production workshops, the central financial support for the numerical control training base, and the Cheng Hui Machinery Practice Training Workshop jointly constructed by enterprises), and 112 stable ones. The school has a multi-functional teaching building, training building, practice factory and production workshop, and a modern network teaching platform and information exchange platform covering the whole college.  

According to the characteristics of Yibin's regional economy and the talent demand of pillar industries, the college focuses on running majors by industry and building majors with famous enterprises. Under the guidance of the government, the college implements school enterprise cooperation with local pillar enterprises dominated by Wuliangye Group. It has 7 departments (colleges) including Wuliangye Institute of technology, Department of modern manufacturing engineering, Department of electronic information and control engineering, Department of economic and trade management, Department of biological and chemical engineering, Department of architectural engineering, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, 41 enrollment majors (directions), and more than 12000 students.  

After years of construction, the college has built a team of teachers with noble ethics, exquisite business, reasonable structure and professional support. At present, the college has 576 full-time and part-time teachers, 283 "double quality" teachers, 17 experts enjoying special subsidies from the State Council Government, reserve candidates for academic and technological leaders in Sichuan Province, academic leaders and top-notch talents in Yibin City, 3 provincial teaching teams of mechatronics technology, biotechnology and application, and chemical application technology, and 171 off campus part-time teachers.
