The new campus of Shanxi staff medical college is located at No. 100, Wenjin street, New College District, Jinzhong City. Its predecessor was the health personnel training class of Shanxi Provincial Department of Health (hereinafter referred to as health training class) established in August 1953. In 1981, it was approved by the provincial government to become Shanxi Medical and health staff college. In 1986, it was even called Shanxi staff medical college. It is two brands and one set of institutions with Shanxi Traditional Chinese medicine school. In 1993, it was approved by the State Education Commission to hold adult education from college to undergraduate; in 2000, it was approved by the Education Department of Shanxi Province to hold higher vocational education.

In October 2013, the College moved to the new campus of Shanxi University Park, which is located in the north of the new campus, adjacent to Shanxi coal University in the East, Taiyuan University of technology in the west, and Shanxi College of traditional Chinese medicine in the south. The completion of the new campus is a milestone in the history of college education development, and has laid a solid foundation for the transformation and leap forward development of the college. The college covers an area of 325.77 mu (new and old campuses), with a total construction area of more than 150000 square meters, teaching equipment worth more than 17 million yuan, and more than 240000 books and materials. The college has 440 teaching staff. Among them, there are 14 senior professional titles, 105 deputy senior professional titles, 140 intermediate professional titles, and more than 200 professors and associate professors from external teaching hospitals. There are 14 teaching administrative departments, five departments and two teaching organizations, namely, Department of medicine, Department of health management, Department of Stomatology, Department of nursing, Department of pharmacy, Department of basic medicine, Department of Humanities and social sciences. There are 38 teaching and research departments, 26 laboratories, 5 specimen rooms, 3 speech rooms, electronic classrooms and computer rooms. There are two levels of school running: Adult Education (from college to college, adult college) and higher vocational education (ordinary vocational education, counterpart Vocational Education). There are more than 6000 students majoring in nursing, midwifery, medical laboratory technology, stomatology technology, pharmacy, nursing (community nursing direction), medical imaging technology, etc.

The college insists on establishing our talent training mode based on the market demand, setting up majors and reforming the curriculum system guided by the market, establishing the employment oriented school running concept, and cultivating practical talents with excellent professional quality and meeting the needs of employers.
