Shanxi Communications vocational and technical college, founded in 1958, is subordinate to the Department of transportation of Shanxi Province. Under the guidance of the Provincial Department of education, Shanxi Communications vocational and technical college is the only higher vocational college in Shanxi Province. Since its establishment, the college has trained nearly 30000 professional and technical talents for the transportation industry. At present, the college has two campuses, Wusu and Wenhua, with a total area of 808 Mu and a total construction area of 375000 m2. Wusu campus is located in the south of Wusu village, Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City, covering an area of 307 Mu and a building area of 102000 m2. Wenhua campus is located in Wenhua street, the new campus of colleges and universities in Shanxi Province, covering an area of 501 Mu and a building area of 273000 m2. At present, there are 7407 full-time students (including 3579 in Wusu campus and 3828 in Wenhua campus), 351 teaching staff, 282 full-time teachers, 77 teachers with deputy senior titles and 167 teachers with graduate degrees.

The college has six teaching departments: Highway Engineering Department, engineering management department, vehicle engineering department, engineering machinery department, economic management department and Information Engineering Department. At present, there are 25 major enrollment, covering highway, engineering management, automobile, transportation network, computer, transportation economy and other transportation fields. Among them, road and bridge engineering technology and other five majors are demonstration construction majors of Higher Vocational Colleges in Shanxi Province. There are 5 on campus training bases, 61 on campus training rooms, 5 talent training bases with Toyota, BMW and other enterprises, and 173 off campus internship bases. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 42.8 million yuan. The road transportation safety production standardization evaluation center of the college is determined by the Ministry of transportation as the only organization in Shanxi Province with the first-class evaluation qualification of road transportation; The vocational skill appraisal station of the postal industry of the college has been determined by the Ministry of human resources and social security as the only postal skill appraisal institution in the province.
