Tianjin Conservatory of music

Tianjin Conservatory of music was founded on October 4, 1958. The aim of the college is to develop and prosper music culture and contribute to the construction of two civilizations. It is the central task of running a school to cultivate music theory, music creation, music performance professionals and music teachers who can meet the needs of the society. Since its founding 40 years ago, the academy has trained and transported more than 4000 music talents for the country. Many graduates have become famous composers, singers, performers, excellent music teachers and management backbones. Many of them have won awards in international music competitions, and a large number of graduates or students have won awards in various domestic competitions. They have made gratifying contributions to the prosperity and development of music.

The college now covers an area of 139.58 mu (92957.78 square meters). There are 32949.4 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, 22875 square meters of student dormitories, 3415 square meters of student canteens, 70 classrooms of various types, including 10 multimedia classrooms, 43.2 seats for 100 multimedia teachers, 747 piano rooms, 5 dance training rooms, 8 dance physique classrooms, 6 concert halls and other practice training halls. The stadium is 1044 square meters, and the stadium is 8900 square meters, with a total of 9944 square meters. The library has a collection of 286800 books (disks), 154000 Chinese books, 32000 foreign books and 227 Chinese and foreign periodicals. There are 43500 records and other audio-visual materials. The collection of old records resources has been built into a digital resource library and is constantly improving. It has five foreign language databases (Springer, EBSCO, OCLC, ProQuest, groveonline), three network common Chinese databases (superstar, Wanfang, VIP full-text journals), and six independent databases. The total value of teaching equipment is 39.72 million yuan. The total assets of the college are 240 million yuan.

At present, the college has five undergraduate majors, namely musicology, theory of composition and composition technology, music performance, dance choreography and performance. There are 13 departments and basic courses departments in musicology, composition, vocal music, national vocal music, folk music, orchestra, piano, accordion keyboard, music education, art management, modern music, dance, drama, film and television, as well as scientific research and Postgraduate Department, College of adult and vocational education and affiliated middle school.

Since 1979, the college has been recruiting postgraduates and is one of the first batch of master's degree awarding units approved by the degree Office of the State Council.

The second level Musicology (covering all music majors in the college) is a key discipline in Tianjin.

In September 2008, there were 2943 full-time students, including 2606 undergraduates, 234 postgraduates, 7 international students and 96 adult education students.

The attached middle school is mainly for the university to cultivate reserve students, and the length of schooling is divided into two types: three-year system (to recruit junior high school graduates) and six-year system (to recruit primary school graduates). Both universities and affiliated high schools face the society and actively hold amateur training courses for music lovers of different ages. More than 1000 adults and children take part in the training every year, making due contributions to the popularization of music education and the improvement of citizens' quality.

College has a reasonable structure, vigorous, high academic level and comprehensive quality of teachers. Among the 277 teachers, 11 are entitled to the special allowance of the State Council, 1 is a famous teacher in Tianjin, 2 are excellent teachers in Tianjin, 4 are model workers in Tianjin, 5 are winners of the district Yongxi Teaching Award, 55 are full professors, 95 are associate professors, 11 have a doctor's degree and 100 have a master's degree, accounting for 40% of the teachers. Many teachers have won the respect and love of students. What is particularly gratifying is that a group of young teachers with both political integrity and ability have come to the fore in teaching or art practice. Their vigorous growth indicates the hope and glory of the college in the future.

The strategy of invigorating the country through science and education and the national policy of opening to the outside world have injected great vitality into the prosperity and development of the college. Due to the care and attention of the government, the school running conditions of the college have changed significantly, providing a good learning environment and conditions for students. In the past decade, the college has attached great importance to the improvement of teaching, scientific research, creation and performance. Therefore, it is necessary to deepen the teaching reform, strengthen the management, and increase the academic exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign academies. He has hosted many international academic conferences, invited art troupes and famous musicians from more than 20 countries and regions to give lectures or perform in the college, selected students to study abroad, made short-term visits, tournaments, competitions and performances, and employed foreign experts to teach in the college for a long time. These exchanges and cooperation have effectively promoted the improvement of teaching, scientific research, creation and performance.

Based on the original school buildings, the college is now raising funds for land acquisition and expansion to meet the needs of education and teaching.
