A century old university

The predecessor of the school, silkworm school, was founded in 1897. It is one of the earliest new education institutions in China. It was named Zhejiang Silk Institute of technology by the State Council in 1964, Zhejiang Institute of Engineering in 1999 and Zhejiang University of technology in 2004. The University began to recruit undergraduates in 1959, master's degree in 1979 and doctor's degree in 2006.

The school has a strong faculty, with more than 1900 staff, including 840 teachers with sub senior and above titles and 210 teachers with senior titles.
