Tianjin Normal University

Tianjin Normal University is a key university of Tianjin Municipality. It was founded in 1958, formerly known as Tianjin Normal University, and renamed Tianjin Normal University in 1982. In April 1999, the former Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Normal College and Tianjin Institute of education merged to form the new Tianjin Normal University.

The school covers an area of 3519.88 mu (2346596 square meters) and a building area of 854207 square meters. In September 2005, the new campus of Tianjin Normal University, located in Xiqing District, was officially opened. The school environment has been fundamentally improved, which has laid a solid foundation for the development of the University.

At present, the university has 24 colleges and 61 undergraduate majors, involving 9 disciplines such as literature, science, education, history, law, economics, management, engineering and art. At present, the university has 2 national key disciplines, 10 Tianjin key disciplines, 4 Tianjin "top priority" disciplines, 6 characteristic specialty construction sites of the Ministry of education, 16 Tianjin brand specialty construction sites, and 5 Tianjin strategic emerging industry related specialty construction sites. Five research institutes (institutes, centers) and laboratories set up at the provincial and ministerial levels. There are 6 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 28 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 11 professional master's degree authorization points, and 5 post doctoral research mobile stations. The school has built 6 national excellent courses, 25 Municipal Excellent Courses, 1 national teaching team and 2 municipal teaching teams. At present, the university has the key research base of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education, the national multimedia technology development and training base, the National College Students' cultural quality education base, the training base of primary and secondary school backbone teachers of the Ministry of education, the key research base of Humanities and social Sciences of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, and the training base for full-time personnel of Tianjin ideological and political education team. There are 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center construction unit and 6 excellent teaching laboratories in Tianjin colleges and universities.

The University regularly publishes nine journals, namely Journal of Tianjin Normal University (SOCIAL SCIENCE EDITION), Journal of Tianjin Normal University (NATURAL SCIENCE EDITION), Journal of Tianjin Normal University (Basic Education Edition), research on psychology and behavior, youth science and Technology Expo, youth world of mind, Journal of mathematical education, secondary mathematics and history of political thought.

There are 28545 full-time students, including 23862 undergraduate students, 266 doctoral students, 3003 master students, 106 students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 2780 international students of all kinds.

There are 2361 teaching staff, including 1409 full-time teachers, 257 with senior professional titles, 394 with deputy senior professional titles and 519 with doctor's degree.

The university has always adhered to the principle of open education, established friendly cooperation and exchange relations with 109 universities in 27 countries and regions, and established the Confucius Institute of the University of Nairobi and the mansund Institute in Kenya and Thailand respectively?
