Zhejiang University of technology is a comprehensive key university of Zhejiang Province. It was founded in 1953. Its predecessor can be traced back to Zhejiang secondary Institute of technology founded in 1910. It has successively experienced Hangzhou Chemical Engineering School (June 1953 to June 1958), Zhejiang Chemical Engineering College (June 1958 to August 1960), Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Engineering (February 1960 to October 1980) and Zhejiang Institute of Technology (January 1980) From February, 978 to October, 1992) and Zhejiang University of Technology (from December, 1991 to the present), etc. Zhejiang Economic Management Cadre College, Hangzhou shipbuilding industry school and Zhejiang building materials industry school were incorporated into Zhejiang University of technology in 1994, 1997 and 2001 respectively. After several generations of hard work and unremitting struggle, the university has developed into a comprehensive teaching and research university with certain influence in China, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top 100 universities in China.

The school is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, a famous historical and cultural city and a world-famous scenic spot. The school has three campuses, Zhaohui, Pingfeng and Zhijiang, covering an area of more than 3200 mu. The campus environment is elegant, and it is an ideal garden for studying. Currently, the university has 61 undergraduate majors, covering ten categories of science, engineering, arts, law, agriculture, philosophy, economy, medicine, management and education, with 21 colleges and two departments: School of chemical engineering and materials, School of mechanical and electrical engineering, School of information engineering, School of economic and trade management, School of architectural engineering, School of biological and environmental engineering, School of Vocational and technical education and School of humanities School of pharmacy, School of science, School of law, School of foreign languages, School of art, School of Jianxing, School of politics and public administration, Zhijiang college, School of adult education, International College, School of educational science and technology, School of software, School of software technology, Department of Social Sciences, Department of sports and military training. Currently, the university has two post doctoral stations, one first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 14 second-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points and 71 master's degree authorization points. It has the right to grant MBA, master of engineering professional degree, master's degree exemption recommendation right and the right to recruit foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The total value of fixed assets of the school is 2.306 billion yuan. The Library covers an area of 60000 square meters, with a collection of more than 3.2 million books (including e-books) and more than 17000 Chinese and foreign periodicals.

There are more than 3000 teachers and more than 1700 full-time teachers, including more than 300 teachers with senior titles, more than 700 teachers with deputy senior titles and more than 500 teachers with doctor's degree. It has 1 academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, 3 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of engineering, 6 national outstanding contribution experts, 1 national famous teaching teacher, 5 winners of national fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 innovation team of Ministry of education, 22 people selected into various national talent training programs, 3 special level experts in Zhejiang Province, 13 middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contribution in Zhejiang Province, and 3 experts from Zhejiang Province There are 5 distinguished professors in Jiang Province. At present, there are more than 30000 full-time students, including more than 3000 graduate students. There are more than 20000 adult education students and more than 400 international students.

The school always adheres to the school running tenet of basing itself on Zhejiang, serving Zhejiang and facing the whole country, and strives to build itself into a training base and scientific research and development base for senior talents in Zhejiang Province. At present, there are 1 national key discipline (cultivation), 1 national key laboratory cultivation base, 1 National University Science and Technology Park, 2 key laboratories jointly built by the Ministry of education, 1 Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of education, 1 national key vocational teacher training base, 4 key laboratories of Zhejiang Province, and 3 major science and technology innovation platforms of Zhejiang Province, and 21 provincial key disciplines in Zhejiang Province, including Zhejiang Province There are 7 top priority disciplines in Zhejiang Province and 2 key research bases of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zhejiang Province. More than 270 scientific research achievements of the University have won national, provincial and ministerial scientific research achievements awards, including 13 national invention awards and national science and technology progress awards. In 2006, the number of papers extracted by scie, EI and ISTP was 318, 207 and 218 respectively, ranking 46th, 54th and 40th respectively. In 2007, the scientific research funds of the University reached 278 million yuan.

The school adheres to the motto of "good morality and good practice", puts the improvement of education quality in a prominent position, and strives to cultivate elite talents who can lead and promote the economic and social development of Zhejiang and even the whole country. Over the past five years, students have won more than 40 awards in various national science and technology competitions. In 2006, a student team won the top prize in the International College Students' mathematical modeling competition, and two students won the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award. In 2003, the University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with excellent results. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the quality of students, graduates are favored by employers, and the initial employment rate of undergraduates remains above 93%.

The University's foreign exchange activities are becoming more and more active. It has established inter school cooperation with 38 universities in the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Australia, Russia and other countries to carry out academic exchanges, joint school running, scientific research and other activities. At present, the university has recruited international students from 23 countries and regions to study Chinese language, Chinese culture and undergraduate courses.

The school run industry takes the development road of combining production, learning and research. The school machinery factory, chemical equipment factory, chemical plant and other enterprises based on the scientific and technological achievements of the school are the backbone enterprises of school run industry in Zhejiang Province. The school logistics conforms to the trend of social reform, establishes the logistics group, simulates the enterprise operation, owns the national top 100 university canteens, and constructs a new university logistics service guarantee system to adapt to and meet the needs of the development of the school.
