Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts

Sichuan Academy of fine arts is located in the beautiful mountain city of Chongqing on the Bank of the Yangtze River. Since its establishment in 1940, the college has been famous at home and abroad for its perfect and unique art education system, active academic atmosphere and outstanding artistic achievements, and has become "a bright pearl of art in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River."

In 1938, Li Youxing, Shen Fuwen, Lei Guiyuan, Pang Xunqin and other hot-blooded youths founded the "Chinese craft society" in Chengdu to express their intention of rejuvenating China. In 1940, Sichuan Academy of art was founded with Li Youxing as its president. At that time, another Nanhong Art College in Chengdu was also a place where talents gathered. Wang Chaowen, Zhang Daqian, Xu Beihong, Huang Binhong, Shi Yan, ye Zhengchang and Cheng Lina all taught and lectured there successively. Later, they merged with Sichuan Art College and renamed it Chengdu Art College. As the people's Liberation Army marched into the southwest, a group of art fighters went south from Xi'an. They were part of the Art College of Northwest military and Political University, with he long as its president. They arrived in Chongqing to establish the southwest people's art college. In 1953, the whole country carried out the adjustment of colleges and departments. The painting department of Chengdu Art College, the applied art department and the Art Department of southwest people's Art College merged to establish southwest art college. The merger of the two schools not only brought together talents, but also combined experts and soldiers, and integrated Western art education, traditional culture and revolutionary thought. In 1959, it was officially renamed Sichuan Academy of fine arts.

Since its establishment, the college has adhered to the party's "two for" direction and "double hundred" policy, belonging to the times and the people. The college adheres to the combination of theory with practice, closely combines classroom teaching with artistic creation and social practice, and serves the society. 5、 In the 1960s, the super realism sculpture represented by the large-scale group sculpture "rent collection courtyard" caused a sensation in the whole country, and was praised as "a revolution in the history of sculpture"; in the 1970s and 1980s, the college's oil painting and print creation achieved fruitful results, which can be called the golden autumn since the founding of the college, and the most representative is "father" created by president Luo Zhongli It has become a milestone in the history of Chinese art. 8、 In the 1990s, the college adapted to the needs of economic and social development, and constantly expanded the field of art creation, so that art creation all-round to a higher level. During this period, more than 300 works were selected in the national art exhibition, and more than 40 were awarded. In addition, he has published many art collections, professional art textbooks and academic works. Art design is also emerging. The school takes advantage of various disciplines to actively serve the local economy. He has participated in the research of traditional dwellings in the Yangtze River Valley (Hongya cave, Chongqing), the corporate image design of Yibin Wuliangye Group, and the large-scale lacquer painting design of Chongqing Hall of the Great Hall of the people in Beijing. The Academy's art criticism, art criticism and art theory have developed by leaps and bounds. The maturity of the theory has laid the foundation for art creation and talent training.

In more than 60 years of school running history, the college has formed the school running concept of "close to life, serve the people; pay equal attention to knowledge and ability, reward and nurture new people; open and compatible, keep pace with the times".

The overall development goal of the college is to become a multi-disciplinary Academy of fine arts which represents the highest level of fine arts education in Western China, has distinctive characteristics, is first-class in China and has important international influence.

The college takes full-time undergraduate education as the main body, vigorously develops postgraduate education, and gives due consideration to adult education and higher vocational education at undergraduate level. With the provincial key disciplines of fine arts and design arts as the main body, we should give full play to the characteristics and advantages of painting, sculpture and art design, build a new discipline, and continue to develop the interdisciplinary and marginal disciplines which are closely related to fine arts and design arts, can give full play to the advantages of our college and are required by social development. The college insists on taking quality education as the core, improving the quality of personnel training as the foundation, emphasizing foundation, practice and innovation, improving students' theoretical accomplishment, and cultivating art and design professionals with high comprehensive quality and strong practical ability.

At present, the college has 14 teaching units: Department of traditional Chinese painting, Department of oil painting, Department of printmaking, Department of sculpture, Department of design art, Department of industrial design, Department of fine arts, Department of fine arts education, Department of architectural art, Department of film and television art, School of continuing education and higher vocational and technical college, office of higher education self-study examination, Ministry of social science and Department of public course teaching. At present, there are three provincial key disciplines of oil painting, sculpture and decoration, and 17 master's degree programs. There are 285 teachers, including 131 professors and associate professors, and more than 4700 students. The college enrolls students from all over the country.

The college has established extensive exchanges and contacts with many foreign universities, art groups and artists. In France, I bought a studio, forming a new pattern of opening to the outside world. In the international cultural and artistic exchanges and development, Sichuan Academy of fine arts is playing an increasingly important role.

The college unswervingly takes education as the center, guides the development of the college with the scientific outlook on development, and runs the higher art education that the people are satisfied with.
