Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts

Tianjin Academy of fine arts is located in the center of Tianjin, on the shore of Haihe River and at Sanhekou. Its predecessor was Beiyang women's normal school, which was founded by Fu Zengxiang, a famous modern Chinese educator, in June 1906. It is one of the earliest public higher education institutions in China.

During the revolution of 1911 and the May 4th movement, a large number of advanced elements such as Deng Yingchao, Guo Longzhen, Liu Qingyang and Xu Guangping emerged and established the "awakening society". Together with Zhou Enlai, Ma Jun and other male school students, they led the struggle against imperialism and feudalism in Tianjin at that time and wrote a brilliant page in modern Chinese history.

At the beginning of the school, it was a normal education school. Around 1926, it set up a special fine arts department. At the same time, it added three special classrooms for Western painting, traditional Chinese painting and pattern. In 1929, the fine arts department developed into the drawing sub department, and the school became one of the most perfect normal colleges in China at that time. There were nine departments of home economics, Chinese, English, history and geography, education, music, mathematics, physics and chemistry, and two sub departments of drawing and physical education, with 350 students.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, after many adjustments and changes of name, the college has gone through Hebei Normal University, Hebei Tianjin Normal University, Hebei art Normal University, Hebei Academy of fine arts, Tianjin Academy of fine arts, etc. it was named Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in February 1980.

The college covers an area of 94 mu, with a building area of 87900 square meters. At present, it has five secondary disciplines, including fine arts, painting, art design, industrial design and sculpture. It has Chinese painting, calligraphy, oil painting, print, sculpture, visual communication design, decorative art design, clothing art design, dyeing and weaving art design, environmental art design, industrial design, digital media art and photography There are 17 professional directions in film art, comprehensive painting, public art, multimedia design and art history. There are more than 3000 graduate students, undergraduates, international students and other kinds of students.

The college takes undergraduate teaching as the main body, pays attention to the coordination and interaction between teaching and research, and emphasizes the comprehensive construction of the college centered on the subject development. The college adheres to the teaching tradition of "rigorous academic research, focusing on quality", establishes the school running concept of "thick foundation, wide caliber, student-centered", and takes the construction of scientific undergraduate curriculum system as the main line to deepen the teaching reform and improve the teaching quality. Through the study of public courses, professional basic courses and professional direction basic courses, students can lay a solid foundation. Through the personalized course group of the elective professional teaching studio and the cross professional optional courses of the whole college, we can not only learn the knowledge system of the major (direction), but also expand the knowledge by means of elective, renewal, minor, or independent choice; or continue to further study to obtain higher level knowledge in the major (direction); or in the major (direction) On the basis of, minor in the second major (direction). Through the tutorial system, we can scientifically guide students to design the elective direction suitable for their personal growth, change the single training mode to teach students in accordance with their aptitude and pay attention to personality development, and realize the goal of "high-quality art talents with solid professional foundation, complete knowledge structure and broad professional skills, high cultural quality and creative potential, the ability of self selection and self-development in the future, and both political integrity and ability" Training objectives.

In order to strengthen practical teaching and improve teaching methods, in recent years, the college has invested tens of millions of yuan to build the laboratory center of painting and carving art, the laboratory center of art design and the experimental center of modern art college, as well as a number of studios, electronic classrooms, voice rooms and multi-function rooms. The college has built a campus network with Gigabit backbone and Gigabit access to the Internet, running a number of data platforms such as art resource database, teaching and management, and gradually promoting to the digital campus.

The college library has the characteristics of "rich collection, collection characteristics, and modern management". It has national calligraphy and painting works, pottery, bronzes and other cultural relics, and nearly ten thousand copies of all kinds of materials.

The college has a strong faculty, which brings together a group of well-known art educators and scholars with high reputation and rigorous teaching at home and abroad. At present, there are 238 full-time teachers, 110 external teachers and 24 famous scholars from the United States, France, Germany, Japan and other countries as part-time professors.

The college has established friendly relations with art colleges in the United States, France, Germany, Belgium, South Korea and other countries. Famous foreign professors and experts are often invited to give lectures, lectures or hold art exhibitions. Our college took the lead in establishing a 3 + 1 and 2 + 1 mode of mutual recognition of academic qualifications and credits with some French art colleges. Each year, both sides send exchange teachers and students to study abroad, and each year more than 20 students are selected to study in France.
