Founded in 1952, Guangdong water conservancy and electric power vocational and technical college is the only public full-time higher vocational college mainly focusing on water conservancy and electric power in Guangdong Province. In 2005, it passed the personnel training level evaluation of the Ministry of education with "excellent grade", and in 2014, it passed the acceptance of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of Finance with excellent results. It has become a national model (backbone) higher vocational college, which was approved by the people's Government of Guangdong Province in 2006 The government awarded the title of "advanced collective of Vocational and technical education in Guangdong Province". The college is composed of Guangzhou Tianhe campus, Guangzhou Conghua campus, Feilaixia teaching and training base, Jiangwan practice power station, etc., covering an area of about 1100 mu, with a total construction area of 356000 square meters. There are 37 on campus experimental and training bases and 271 off campus experimental and training bases. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 137 million yuan. At present, there are more than 14000 full-time students and nearly 800 teaching staff, including 253 teachers with senior titles, 1 subsidy expert from the State Council, 1 second level Professor, 30 professors, 54 doctors and 352 masters. The college adheres to open education, and cooperates with Australia to train double diploma students and undergraduates in construction engineering technology, architectural design, and Applied English (hotel and Exhibition), and cooperates with Jackson College in the United States to establish Jackson International College of East Water Conservancy and electric power vocational and technical college. We have carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation with Canada, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan and other countries and regions.

The major setting of the college meets the market demand and has a good career development prospect. The college has signed school enterprise cooperation agreements with 357 domestic enterprises, and the initial employment rate of graduates in recent three years has exceeded 98%, ranking among the top in the province. The employment rate and professional counterpart rate of graduates are relatively high.
