The college is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is the only provincial public medical vocational college in Nanjing. It is a provincial demonstration construction unit and subordinate to Jiangsu Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission (former provincial Department of Health). Founded in 1933 and formerly known as the National Central midwifery school, the college was founded by Dr. Yang chongrui, the earliest female doctor of medicine and founder of maternal and child medicine in China.
