Shaanxi communications vocational and technical college is a public higher vocational college sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial People's government and supervised by Shaanxi Provincial Department of education. It is the construction unit of national high-quality vocational colleges, the construction unit of "first-class college" in Shaanxi Province and the excellent demonstration vocational college in Shaanxi Province. The school aims at cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents in transportation, and is known as the "cradle of transportation construction and management talents" in Western China.

The school was formerly known as the cadre training class of the Communications Department of Shaanxi Provincial People's government, which was established in 1952. In 1956, it was renamed Shaanxi Communications school. In 2001, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college, named Shaanxi communications vocational and technical college. In 2011, it was transferred to the Provincial Department of education for management, and the joint construction mechanism of the Provincial Department of education and the Provincial Department of communications was implemented. The school is located in Xi'an, one of the four famous historical and cultural cities in the world. It has three campuses, Wenjing, Ziqiang and Taibai, with a total construction area of 310000 square meters and a total asset value of 903 million yuan. The library has 658000 paper books and 1676g e-books. Wenjing campus was put into operation in 2000 and is now the main campus of the school; Ziqiang campus has a history of more than 60 years and is mainly responsible for the education and teaching of economics and management and driving training; Taibai campus was opened in 2009 and is mainly responsible for the practical teaching of students. The school now has 10 teaching units, including the College of highway and railway engineering, the College of architecture and surveying and mapping engineering, the College of automobile engineering, the College of economics and management, the College of rail transit, the College of transportation information, the College of continuing education and international exchange, the Department of basic disciplines, the Department of Ideological and political education, and the Ministry of sports, with a total of 38 full-time Higher Vocational Majors and 10 adult education majors. The school has 429 full-time teachers, including 43 with senior professional titles, 159 with deputy senior professional titles, 20 with doctor's degree and 263 with master's degree. The proportion of full-time teachers is 92%, and that of key majors is 100%. Now it has 1 national teaching team, 5 provincial teaching teams and 8 provincial and ministerial teaching masters.
