Located in Yantai, the "best charming city in China", the university is a provincial comprehensive university with arts, science and engineering as the main body and multi-disciplinary coordinated development. In 2012, it became one of the first batch of "famous schools with application-oriented talents training characteristics in Shandong Province" and a doctoral talent training project unit serving the special needs of the country. [cultural heritage] the school was founded in Laiyang, a thousand year old county with a long history and culture in 1930. It has gone through such historical stages as the second rural normal school of Shandong Province, Jiaodong public school, Laiyang normal school, Laiyang normal college, Yantai normal college and Yantai normal college. In 2001, Shandong Communications school, which was directly under Shandong Communications Department and founded in 1978, was merged into Shandong Communications school. In 2006, the University changed its name to Ludong University. For more than 80 years, the school has always shared the same breath and destiny with the progressive cause of striving for independence, freedom, democracy and prosperity of the Chinese nation, and played an important role in revolution, construction and reform. Represented by He Qifang, Wu boxiao, Zang Kejia and so on, a large number of famous teachers and sages spread literature and encouraged education here. After more than 80 years of development, the school adheres to the school motto of "virtue, erudition, innovation and practice", works hard, develops and enterprises, and forms the school spirit of "seeking truth and perfection, pursuing practicality and application". [school conditions] the school is a provincial garden style unit and civilized campus with beautiful environment, beautiful lakes and mountains, and evergreen all the year round. The campus covers an area of 3450 mu, with a building area of 1.03 million square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 2.336 billion yuan, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 360 million yuan. It has one national experimental teaching demonstration center for digital language and literature, and two provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers for basic computer science and biology.
