[plant morphology] Forsythia suspensa
Erect evergreen shrub, 2-3m high. Branches without thorns or spiny, often drooping or lying on the ground. Leaves opposite or whorled, elliptic or obovate, 3-6 cm long, apex short pointed or rounded, base cuneate, margin serrate above middle. Raceme axillary, arranged into a terminal panicle, soft and expanded; about 10 cm long, flowers often on one side of the axis; calyx tubular, 5-lobed, teeth sharp and small; corolla 5-lobed, lobes unequal, purple blue or white, ca. 1 cm in diameter; stamens 4-contained, filaments short, inserted in the middle of corolla tube; ovary 8-locular, with 1 ovule per locule. Fleshy drupe ovate, yellow, surrounded by enlarged calyx. It blooms all year round.
Planted on the roadside, garden. It is distributed in Guangdong, Fujian and other places.
