[source / prescription] this product is the dried whole herb of incarvilla compacta Maxim. Collect the flowers in full bloom, wash the soil and dry them in the air.

[character] the root of this product is cylindrical, and the upper end often has residues of stem and leaf. It is brittle, with white to light yellow cross section, dark skin color, loose, granular and obvious pith. The leaves are shrunken and complete. The leaves are oblong and pinnately divided. The lobes vary in size from dark green to light yellow. Flowers shrunken, lavender or dark brown; funnel-shaped after wet spreading, apex 5-lobed, stamens 4, stigma funnel-shaped, capsule occasionally, with 4 edges.
