Small shrubs, up to 1.5 m high. Stem terete, longitudinally sulcate, glabrous. Leaves alternate, pinnate compound, 1-3 leaflets; terminal leaflets rectangular or lanceolate, 5.5-10 cm long, 1-2.5 cm wide, apex rounded or obtuse, with short tip, glabrous on top, close pubescence on bottom; lateral leaflets very small, rectangular to linear, sometimes absent; petiole 1.1-2 cm long. Terminal inflorescence paniculate, 24 cm long, axillary racemose; bracts dense, broadly ovate, ca. 6 mm, glabrescent; flowers purplish red, ca. 7.5 mm; sepals 5, ca. 1.5 mm, calyx teeth short; corolla butterfly, keel spurred. Pods falcate or straight, 5-9 nodes. It blooms in autumn.

It grows in hills, hillsides or small thickets. Distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan and other places.
