Narrow leaf row grass

Herbs perennial, ca. 30 cm tall. The fibrous root is light yellow. Stems tufted, unbranched, red near base, pilose. The upper part is green, nodes slightly expanded, pubescent. The leaves of the lower part of the stem degenerate, very small, such as scaly, opposite; the top leaves of the stem rotate, mostly 4-7, varying in size, round to obovate, 4-14 cm long, 2-10 cm wide, apex acute, entire, slightly wrinkled, base broadly cuneate to narrowly cuneate, above light green, below light green; petiole without, or very short, jujube red. Flowers clustered at the top of the stem; calyx united into a spherical shape, upper 5-lobed, lobes linear lanceolate, light green; corolla yellow, 5-lobed; stamen 5, inserted in corolla tube; ovary red, style slender, 1-locular, ovules numerous, capsule spherical. The flowering period is May. The fruit period is from May to June.

It grows under the moist forest and beside the ditch in the low mountain area. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou and other places.

The whole grass of this product can be used as four tiles together with the whole grass of Chloranthaceae and Primulaceae in Sichuan. See the "four tiles" section.
