[plant morphology] Senecio purpurea

Perennial erect herbs, 50-70 cm high. Fibrous roots are numerous. The root leaves are tufted, long spoon shaped, 7-12 cm long and 2-3 cm wide. The apex is obtuse, the base is cuneate, the edge has thick teeth, the top is dark green, the bottom is green or purplish red, the young is hairy, the old is off and nearly hairless; the veins are obvious. Inflorescence arranged in head or cyme, terminal; involucre 1 row; flowers yellow, ligulate, stipitate, oblongate, apex 3-toothed; tubular flowers narrow, funnel-shaped, 5-toothed. Achene, sericeous. It blooms in summer.

It grows on hillside, grass and damp place. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
