[plant morphology] Pinellia pedatissima
Perennial herbs. Tubers subglobose, similar to Pinellia ternate, but larger, about 4 cm in diameter. Petiole slender weak, light green, 45-65 cm long; leaf palmately divided, leaflets 9-11. Fleshy inflorescence terminal, petiole and petiole as long as or slightly longer; spathe pale green, lanceolate, lower tube shaped, oblong, apex acute, 8-14 cm long; flowers unisexual, apetalous, monoecious; male flowers in the upper end of inflorescence, stamens densely cylindrical, about 6 mm long, with banana aroma; female flowers in the lower part of inflorescence, attached to bracts, about 1.5 cm long; Inflorescence apex appendage linear, ca. 9 cm, slightly curved. Berry ovoid, green, 4-5 mm long, 2-3 mm in diameter, containing 1 seed. The flowering period is from June to July.
It is wild on hillsides and fields. It is distributed in Hebei, Yangtze River Basin and southwest China.
