Yu Baifu

[medicinal material] the dried tuber is oval or oval in shape, 2-4cm in length and 1-2cm in diameter. It is hard, hard to break, white in cross section, rich in powder, odorless, light in taste and spicy in chewing. It is better to be big, fat, peeled and white.

It is mainly produced in Henan, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei. It is also produced in Gansu, Shanxi and other places. Henan has the highest yield and good quality.

Yubaifu, produced in Sichuan, is not peeled. It is cut into slices obliquely, soaked and steamed with ginger juice, and dried in the sun. It is oval and flaky, about 0.3-0.7 cm thick. Its surface is brown, rough and shrunken. It is densely covered with membranous scaly leaves, especially the top, with pink terminal buds. Nodes can be seen after peeling off the scaly leaves.
