Body length, front flat, rear flat, body length of about 40 cm, up to 90 cm or more. The skin is rich in mucous glands, and there is a line of mucous pores on the lateral line. The dorsal fin is 4-6, atrophic and clumped, located in front of the ventral fin. The pectoral fin is round and has a hard spine. The male body has serrations at the front and back edge of the spine, while the female body is limited to the front edge and the back edge is smooth. The gluteal fin is 77-83, very long, and its posterior end is connected with the caudal fin. The caudal fin is small and round. They live in rivers, lakes and reservoirs. During the day, they live in the bottom layer of aquatic plants. They like to feed at night. Most of the food is small fish. After autumn, they live in deep water or mud for winter. It is distributed in Heilongjiang, Yangtze and Pearl River basins.
