Plant morphology
Evergreen trees, 5-10m high. Branchlets stout, yellow white villi when young, gradually falling off, reddish brown or purple brown. Leaf blade lanceolate or ovate lanceolate, 5-8 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, base broadly cuneate or suborbicular, entire or slightly obtuse serrate, densely covered with yellow white villi; petiole about 1 cm long, densely covered with villi. 3-5 flowers clustered at the top of branchlets; pedicels short and thick or nearly sessile, elongated at fruiting stage, densely villous; flowers white, 2.5-8 cm in diameter; calyx tube campanulate, densely yellow white villous outside. The fruit is larger, ovate or oblong, 2-3 cm in diameter, with persistent calyx lobes and longer petiole.
It grows on the edge of mountain, stream or shrub. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
